  • Aksla Mountain - Stop 1: Driving time 5 km and 15 minutes. View of Ålesund, from the mountain. Toilet stop. 50 meters to walk to the viewpoint.

With the sea on all sides, surrounded by mountains, nicely located in beautiful Ålesund. An adventure journey in reality. This experience is unique, even for Norwegians.

Panoramic view of beautiful Alesund. Here we get a full 360-degree view of the fjords around, and the islands out in the sea. Alesund, voted in 2013 by National Geographic as one of Europe’s most beautiful cities that simply must be experienced. And here the weather changes in a short time, and it is just as fascinating, almost magical. Here the stairs from the city also come up 418 steps, built in 1885, 15 years later in 1900 they were opened. They stood for 114 years before they were improved in 2014 to new safe stairs imitated after the old ones in the best possible way.

Then after 10 minutes of driving, we are showing a drone video of Ålesund and Trollstigen on the bus. Lasts 25 minutes

  • Sjoholt - Stop 2: Driving time 40 km and 45 minutes.
0 meters to walk to the viewpoint. we don’t go out. See the the old hotel from the bus window and hear the exciting story.(Sjøholt). Guiding the old hotel. (Sitting in the bus, not going out.) Driving time 45 minutes.

The first time Sjøholt Hotel was ready was in 1887.
Sjøholt Hotel in Swiss style with its towering facade with glass-clad verandas, is a well-known landmark along the main road between Vestnes and Ålesund.

The hotel is a Swiss-style building on three and a half floors. The building is protected by the National Antiquities.

Royals from Europe and famous people have stayed here in the old days when the journey time was long in those days.

  • Stordal - Stop 3:Driving time 9 km and 15 minutes.
Kopparsteinen. 10 meters to walk to the viewpoint.
    is open.

Kokarsteinen by Storfjorden between Vaksvik and Dyrkorn. The Kokarsteinen was used as a shelter and cooking area for those who built the road between Vaksvik and Dyrkorn. But only a little is taken care of. Fantastic view into the fjord. We look across the fjord to the beautiful mountain farm Yste Skotet
In the steep fjord landscape on the west side of Storfjord, we find Ytste Skotet. Fjellgarden lies beautifully on a shelf 225 m above the fjord and has been inhabited since the Viking Age. The traditional way of farming, with the grain on the infield and grazing and mowing on the outfield, was maintained right up until 1954 when the last users moved. Binoculars are recommended to take with you on the trip

  • Liabygda Church - Stop 4.: Driving time 23 km and 30 minutes. By the road with the fjord crossing to Geiranger.

Here we see the fjord split in two and one goes further into Tafjord, which has several heat records in Norway in winter, and the other goes into Geiranger which the cruise ships follow.
The fjord here is as deep as the mountains are high. We don’t need to say more. This is magical, spectacular, fascinating, and wonderful to see with your own eyes.

  • Gudbrandsjuvet - Stop 5.:Driving time 27 km and 30 minutes. 50 meters to walk to the viewpoint. Toilet stop.
Here, the large waterfalls are gathered in a natural way from nature’s own wonder. This is a completely magical experience where you walk on bridges criss-crossing the large waterfalls. Nature’s own performance and enormous powers of water from untouched nature for thousands of years.
An experience you can never forget. You have to take pictures here, because this is a completely unique experience, even in a Norwegian context.
flows between gorges and cracks in the mountain and meets from rather unexpected angles, before it flows under the bridge and plunges further down the valley.
The gully is partly formed by several large potholes. The water game is a tourist attraction, and platforms and bridges have been built in a mixture of glass and rust-corroded iron in both the walls, a truly magical engineering of the highest class.

Lunch box after the stop

  • Øvstestølen - Stop 6.: Driving time 2 km and 15 minutes.
An Old farm. one house is 500 years old. To go 40 meters to walk to the viewpoint
Øvstestølen in Valldal in Norddal municipality. This støl is about 500 meters above sea level. Here we get to look up close to the old mountain farm and the river with the beautiful little stone bridge. We are high up and the trees are no longer so tall. In the background, we see part of the settlement on the farm and a steep mountain, Bjorstadfjellet. At Øvstestølen there was full-seater use. In 1939, there were usually 50-60 dairy cows here in the summer. A number of young cattle, bulls, and horses also made use of the mountain pastures belonging to this stable. When the Trollstigen road was built, houses on Øvstestølen were also used as accommodation for road workers.
  • Trollstigen - Stop 7.: Driving time 13 km and 15 minutes.
863 meter above the sea level. Thist is the highest point on the route. AMAZING up here and before Trollstigen stop at the top of the mountains. 10 meters to walk to the viewpoint
Up here there are no trees.

The air is fascinatingly clean, and the view around to an absolutely fantastic spectacular landscape, this can take the breath away from many, magical like a lunar landscape.
It’s just a matter of letting yourself be fascinated. Here the winters are long and the summers short.

  • Trollstigen - Stop 8.: Driving time 10 minutes 3 km -
Trollstigen is one of Norway’s most visited tourist attractions. 50 -200 meter to walk to the viewpoint. Souvenir. Toilet stop.

The road was opened by King Haakon VII on 31 July 1936. This is probably where nature’s most spectacular scenery can be experienced. Here the impressions are many and there is beautiful engineering work with bridges, and walkways that make the view down the valley and over the waterfall magical and unforgettable.

Here we become small in relation to the enormous nature in the wild execution of thousand-meter-high mountains and waterfalls with forces that take everyone’s breath away.

The eleven hairpin bends each have a radius of approximately 10 meters. There is a bridge under the 180-meter-high Stigfossen, and when the water flow is high, the water splashes over the bridge.

From 1992, Trollstigen was part of the tourism product The Golden Route,

  • Trollstigen - Stop 9 .Driving time 20 minuttes and 4 km. to the Bottom of Trollstigen. 10 meters to walk to the viewpoint-
Here we get the impression of how big this is. We see the huge waterfall, pass ends and partly over the beautiful stone bridge that seems to be taken from any fairy tale, This is absolutely magical, and almost unreal. So beautiful that you get an impression to remember for a long time.

The mountains are very high and they sort of change colors with sun and shadows. Reminders to take care of.

  • Trollstigen - Stop 10. : Drving time 10 and 5 km
Trollstigen gjestegård. Here we meet the big trolls. They are kind, of course, with their different expressions, but still a little frighteningly large and beautiful. Here it is the photo that applies. The guest house has a souvenir shop.
Troll ice cream is obviously here, Show your Royal Tour Travel ID card and this is served and is included in the tour. Norwegian Troll ice cream at its best.

Small group size and stunning scenery. - Rolf was an excellent, he created a thoughtful and well planned tour and was able to share his knowledge of the area having grown up locally. The small size of the group let us interact with Rolf and allowed us to be far more efficient at stops along the way. We were treated to unexpected whale sightings in the fjord, and intimate waterfalls the big bus tours miss.

Best of both worlds in comfort! - This tour was fantastic combining the sights and history of Alesund with traveling further into the mountains with breathtaking scenery, majestic waterfalls, rivers, lakes and vistas. Our guide Rolf provided current info along with history and interesting tidbits such as Tom Cruise filming in the area years ago. Rolf thought of everything, from providing a picture of our exact meeting point when disembarking the cruise ship to offering umbrellas for inclement weather and bright yellow vests for roadside stops. We had cold beverages and a hearty lunch with snacks. I also appreciated his detailed itinerary, which included bathroom breaks and clear expectations for the day.

INCREDIBLE TOUR 100% Recommend - This tour was INCREDIBLE!!! If you’re going to visit Alesund invest a little extra to take this tour with Rolf. He was awesome and made my trip truly magical. I got picked up in a luxurious mini van that was both clean and very comfortable. Rolf did an incredible job at providing visual resources (both in laminated sheets and video) of history of Alesund and the various stops along the tour. Rolf even got me freshly picked strawberry’s from local farms (probably the best strawberries I’ve ever had) and ice cream. He was patient and encouraging to take pics and videos of the various stops. Though you can likely take a big bus, but for a once in a lifetime experience, I would book this tour. We did more than ten stops. I thought the tour was over after Trollstigen but Rolf was very thorough tour guide and wanted to include some history of the city center of Alesund. He drove around and offered history on the fire of 1904 and architecture of Alesund. I would 100% recommend Rolf! Thank you for being amazing!
