Yaowang Mountain of Lhasa - In Tibetan, Yaowang Mountain translates to “mountain of the corner,” referring to its position at the edge of the Red Mountain, home to the Potala Palace. In the late 17th century, Diba Sangye Gyatso established Menba Dratsang (a medical institute) on Yaowang Mountain to advance Tibetan medicine. He recruited lamas from various temples to study Tibetan medicine there. The institute features a Medicine Buddha statue painted with sapphire, leading the Han people to name it “Yaowang Mountain.” This medical school operated until 1959 and was also known as “Yaowang Mountain Lizhong Medical College.”

Yamdrok Yumtso Lake - Departing from Lhasa in the morning, the journey leads to Yamdrok Yonchoe, one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes and the highest freshwater lake globally, at 4,441 meters above sea level. Known as “Jasper Lake” in Tibetan, the lake’s blue waters, distant snow-capped peaks, vibrant mountains, unique Tibetan villages, and grazing livestock create a serene and peaceful atmosphere.
Downtown Lhasa: Potala Palace—Jokhang Temple—Bharkor Street
Potala Palace - The morning visit to the Potala Palace reveals the world’s highest ancient fortress-like structure, serving as the Dalai Lamas’ residence and the political and religious hub of Tibet. It contains the golden stupa of the Dalai Lamas and numerous valuable murals, thangkas, and statues, epitomizing Tibetan culture.
Jokhang Temple - Post-lunch, guests can explore Jokhang Temple, the earliest Buddhist temple from the Tubo Dynasty. It houses the twelve-year-old statue of Sakyamuni, brought to Tibet by Princess Wencheng, revered as the most sacred and spiritual statue by Tibetans.
