Old Town of Lijiang - China - Your English-speaking guide will meet you in your Lijiang hotel’s lobby or at the Lijiang Railway Station at a time that suits you. Since this trip can be tailored to your interests, you can discuss your preferences with your guide upon meeting. Typically, the first stop is the Old Town of Lijiang.
The Old Town of Lijiang is a well-preserved ancient city of ethnic minorities with a rich culture. Built in the late Song Dynasty (960 - 1279), it boasts a history of over 800 years. The town’s architecture is a blend of Han, Bai, and Tibetan styles, uniquely adapted by the Naxi ethnic minority.
Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture - As you stroll through the old town with your guide, you’ll visit the Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture. This museum is dedicated to the history of the Naxi people, their pictographic language, and the animist Dongba religion. Explore the museum to learn about Naxi culture and art.
Mufu Palace - Next, you’ll visit Mufu Palace. The Mu Family, rulers of the Naxi minority, governed Lijiang from the Yuan Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, spanning 470 years and 22 generations. The current Mufu Palace represents ancient central Chinese architectural styles from the Ming Dynasty, with influences from the Tang and Song Dynasties. The palace also features elements of Bai and Naxi minority cultures. Besides its architectural significance, the palace is home to ancient trees and rare plants, blending imperial and Suzhou garden styles. Discover its history and stories with your guide.
Lijiang Lion Rock - After lunch at a local restaurant, head to Lion Hill Park. From a distance, Lion Mountain resembles a sleeping lion, offering a picturesque view.
Wangu Pavilion - At the mountaintop, visit the Wangu Pavilion, a five-story wooden structure with five elegant eaves. Known as the No.1 Domed-shaped Structure in China, it offers panoramic views of the surrounding areas, including Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the Old Town, and Naxi minority villages. Wenchang Palace - Continue to Wenchang Palace, originally built in 1725. It was once a venue for exams and folk lectures during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Explore the area and then visit the Twin-Stone Garden, where you’ll find a large waterwheel and bas-relief commemorating Naxi civilization.
Black Dragon Pond Park - Your final stop is Black Dragon Pond Park. Follow your guide to see ancient monuments like Longshen Temple, Deyue Pavilion, Suocui Bridge, and Hanyue Stage. Enjoy breathtaking views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from the park.

Lijiang- Jade Dragon Snow Mountain- Impressions Lijiang Show-Blue Moon Valley (L)
Yulong (Jade Dragon) Mountain - Meet your private guide in your hotel’s lobby in Lijiang and head directly to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, about an hour’s drive away. Enjoy the scenic views along the way.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, with its 13 peaks, is the southernmost glacier in the Northern Hemisphere. From Lijiang Old Town, the snow-covered, fog-enveloped mountain looks like a jade dragon lying in the clouds, hence its name. Yunnan province, where the mountain is located, is home to about half of China’s plant species, including trees, flowers, and medicinal herbs. The mountain’s ravines, creeks, cliffs, and meadows, all named in the Naxi language, are settings for the myths and legends of the Naxi people, who have lived in the area for 1,000 years.
Learn about the mountain’s legendary stories from your guide. Upon arrival, take a cable car to the scenic viewing point at 4506 meters and marvel at the spectacular glacier and mountain views. You can also hike up to 4680 meters via wooden stairs. When you’re ready to leave, descend by cable car.
Lijiang Impressions Show - After lunch at a local restaurant, enjoy the Lijiang Impressions Show. Performed during the day with Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as its backdrop, the show features over 100 horses and 500 non-professional peasant actors from 16 local villages and more than 10 ethnic minorities. They use unique movements and original songs to showcase their culture, history, and customs. When booking, you can choose your preferred tickets for the show.
Blue Moon Valley - After the show, spend some leisure time exploring Blue Moon Valley. This extremely blue river winds through a lush valley of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Take your time to stroll around the area and capture amazing photos.
After the tour, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Lijiang.
Lijiang-Yangtze River First Bend- Tiger Leaping Gorge (L)
Yangtze River First Bend - Meet your private guide in your hotel’s lobby in Lijiang and head directly to Tiger Leaping Gorge, about a 2-hour drive away. Enjoy the scenic views along the way. Together, they flow through the high mountains and deep gorges of the Hengduan Mountains. Enjoy the stunning scenery and take photos.
Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia) - Continue to Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world. The gorge is divided into three parts: the upper, middle, and lower gorges. The most famous spots are the Mouth of the Gorge and the Tiger Leaping Pebble, both located in the upper gorge. Today, you’ll explore the upper Tiger Leaping Gorge.
