Lima - Arrive in Lima, a bustling metropolis with a population of around 11 million, making it the largest city in South America. Relax and, if desired, explore the city independently. Overnight stay at a hotel.
Flight from Lima to Huaraz: A Quick and Scenic Journey to the Andes 3-hour flight - Alpamayo Base Camp (4300 m)
Alpamayo - Depart from Lima, the capital city, on a domestic flight to Huaraz, the gateway to the breathtaking Cordillera Blanca. This brief yet scenic flight provides stunning aerial views of the Andes Mountains, significantly reducing travel time compared to a lengthy bus ride. Upon arrival at Comandante FAP Germán Arias Graziani Airport in Anta, approximately 23 km from Huaraz, private transportation will be arranged to take you comfortably to your hotel or the starting point of your expedition.
From Huaraz, board a helicopter for a direct flight to the Alpamayo Base Camp, offering a unique and exclusive experience with unparalleled panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.
Important: Clients must arrive fully acclimatized before the expedition to ensure safety and optimal performance at high altitudes. Prior acclimatization in Cusco, Huaraz, or similar high-altitude destinations is recommended.
Alpamayo Base Camp - Ascend to Alpamayo Moraine Camp (4900 m)
Alpamayo - Start the day with a hearty breakfast and prepare the expedition equipment for Alpamayo. A local team, including porters, a cook, and local guides, will assist in carrying everything. After a light lunch at Base Camp, begin the trek to the moraine. The trail leads across the steep moraine at the glacier’s tongue to Moraine Camp (4,900 m). Overnight stay at the camp.
Moraine Camp - Ascend to Alpamayo High Camp (5300 m)
Alpamayo - Alpamayo High Camp is situated on the steep glacier at the base of Alpamayo and Quitaraju. Due to the glacier’s constant shrinkage, conditions along this section change annually. The views from High Camp are magnificent, with the summit appearing close enough to touch! Dinner is served early as an early rise is necessary for the long day ahead. High Camp (5,300 m). Overnight stay at the camp.
High Camp - Ascend to Alpamayo Summit (5947 m) - High Camp (5300 m) - Descend to Base Camp (4300 m)
Alpamayo - Summit day! One possible route is the French route, featuring a 60 to 80-degree ice wall that narrows towards the top. Beyond the wall, a few meters lead to the highest point of the narrow ridge. At the summit, enjoy a magnificent view of the Cordillera Blanca! The neighboring peak of Quitaraju (6,036 m) is almost within reach, and to the southwest, the remarkable summit of Huascarán (6,768 m) is visible. After a brief rest and photos at the summit, return swiftly to High Camp via a rappel down the ascent route. In favorable weather, the climb to the summit and return to base camp can be completed before noon. The ascent takes 5-6 hours, while the descent takes about 2-3 hours. If participants are fatigued, an additional night at High Camp is possible. If everyone feels well, which is common, descend to Alpamayo Base Camp (4,300 m). Overnight stay at the camp.
