Highlights
  • Barranco - The first stop on this Lima tour starts in the enchanting, bohemian Barranco district at a local roastery, Tostaduria Bisetti, where they hand-pick the coffee beans daily, for an organic Peruvian coffee. You will also tour the colonial streets of this trendy district, home to artists, musicians and the city’s top art galleries, visit the Bridge of Sighs and Barranco’s main square. You’ll try an exotic fruit smoothie made from lucuma at the garden cafe, La Bodega Verde.
  • Costa Verde - Get a spectacular view of Lima’s coastline as we pass through the city en route to our next culinary stop
  • Miraflores - You’ll visit a traditional market to try exotic fruits and discover local products while learning the ancient myths and legends associated with them.

The third stop is one of the city’s delicious seafood restaurants (cebichería), Embarcadero 41 Fusíon, on Avenida La Mar in the Miraflores district – a stop other tours in Lima won’t take you. You’ll discover the secrets to the perfect Cebiche and Pisco Sour as you prepare the dish and cocktail yourself with the head chef and bartender.

  • San Isidro - While we’re in this part of the city, you’ll have the chance to see some of the district’s most iconic spots, like South America’s first olive grove, el Olivar Park, pre-Incan ruins at la Huaca Huallamarca as well as the Country Club.
  • Huaca Pucllana - The last stop, and the icing on the cake, is for more dishes and dessert at la Huaca Pucllana, a restaurant within a pre-Incan archeological complex – undoubtedly a highlight of tourism in Lima. This prestigious restaurant is so impressive that the King of Spain, Mick Jagger, and many sitting presidents, just to name a few, have made sure not to miss it during their trips to Lima. You’ll enjoy a variety of gourmet Peruvian dishes as well as four different desserts and another pisco-based cocktail.

Great Introduction to Peruvian Cuisine - This half day morning food tour was great! Got to try a lot of different Peruvian dishes in various neighborhoods across Lima along with learning about culture and history. Our guide Kimberly was great and very personable. I really enjoyed making ceviche and the pisco sour cocktail making demonstration. You won’t go hungry! Also appreciated the prompt hotel pick up and drop off.

Great starting point - So much delicious food. It was nice to start with coffee. Then we were off to the fruit stands at a market to learn about and sample local fruits. Then pisco sours and delicious food and wine at a couple of additional stops. It's a great way to get an overview of Peruvian cuisine and parts of the city itself. Lima Gourmet also has a handy info brochure with additional suggestions on things to do and places to eat.

First trip to Peru started off first class - I have been on many food tours and I have to say this one was one of the best I’ve ever experienced. Communication was excellent and our guide Amy was engaging, very informative about the area and a whole lot of fun. The food selection was top-notch. Thank you for the best introduction to Lima we could have asked for.

Simply wonderful food tour - We loved our experience eating and drinking our way around Barranco & Miraflores. Our guide Sue was terrific—knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic. Our tastings were top notch and generously portioned. We especially loved our visit to the local market (including fruit tastings), the pisco sour demo, and a delicious lunch on the terrace overlooking the Huaca Pucllana ruins. The pace and variety were perfect for us. My main advice would be to come hungry! You will not be disappointed.

Awesome gourmet tour! - My family and I had an unforgettable experience on the Lima Gourmet Tour with Sue Kaneku as our guide. Sue is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Peruvian cuisine. She took us to a wonderful mix of traditional and modern spots, giving us detailed insights into each dish. Our journey started at Singular Cafe, where we enjoyed rich organic Peruvian coffee and a tasty Butifarra. Next, we visited La Bodega Verde and were introduced to the refreshing Lucuma Milkshake, a unique Peruvian fruit delight. At Mercado Santa Cruz, Sue introduced us to a variety of exotic local fruits like aguaymanto, tuna, granadilla, chirimoya, and mango — each tasting fresher than the last. The tour then continued to Limaná, where we were treated to a delicious Pisco Sour, along with innovative dishes like coconut ceviche, paiche skewer, and a flavorful Portobello burger. The final stop was the iconic Huaca Pucllana, where we sipped on natural orange wine and tasted traditional favorites such as papa rellena, lomo saltado, and picarones. Each dish was perfectly paired and explained in detail by Sue, making the experience even more enjoyable. Sue’s enthusiasm for Peruvian gastronomy truly shone through, and we left the tour feeling both full and enriched by the culinary and cultural history of Lima. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to explore the flavors of Peru.
