Additional Information

Our journey commences in Barranco, the artistic heart of Lima. We’ll visit key features like its Central Park, the Municipal Library, the iconic Bridge of Sighs, colonial residences and the popular boulevard. Following this, we’ll take a scenic drive along the South Pacific Coast Highway to reach Pachacamac, a significant sacred site during both pre-Inca and Inca eras. It was home to various Andean societies such as the Lima’s, the Wari’s, the Ichma’s, and lastly, the Inca Empire over the centuries. Remarkably, the Pachacamac Oracle never stopped being a place of worship. We’ll explore many pyramid-shaped temples and enclosures from various eras: the Adobitos & Old Temple (I C. A.D.), the Painted Temple (VIII C. A.D.), a pyramid equipped with a ramp (XIII C. A.D) & the Sun Temple (XV C. A.D.). In addition to the archaeological site, we’ll stop by an in-house museum that houses pottery, textiles, accessories made from shells and stones, and the wooden Pachacamac idol discovered during archaeologic digs (1938)

Excellent Tour - Rosa (our guide) gave us an amazing tour of the beautiful Barranco and powerful sights at Pachacamac. Her wisdom and insight into Peruvian history and the lived experiences of the many peoples of modern Peru made this tour highly educational and helped us understand this beautiful country more deeply. Highly recommend - and thank you, Rosa!

Sun Temple in Peru - Wonderful experience. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and I give him credit for giving the tour to us in English and also to the rest of the group in Spanish. I was very pressed with the areas of Barracos we also saw. I didn't knew the Bridge of Sighs was part of this trip and was very happy to have seen it.

Ruins with nice views - I found the museum is very well put together and interesting. I thought the site had beautiful sights and a nice quiet walk. It’s a little far from Lima but Uber is not expensive and the way back you can take a bus right across the street from the site. Problem with the bus is that it takes twice as much time.
