Learning to make Ceviche, Causa and Pisco Sours at Luchito's Peruvian Cooking Class - My wife and I signed up for the Market tour and Cooking class through Luchito's when we were in Lima last week. We had a very interesting visit to the market with Camilla and she told us about the various sections of the market and the kinds of fruits, vegetables, meat and fish that we could find there. We got to sample many fruits while at the market and had time to wander around. Camilla watched out for us and made sure we weren't targetted as foreigners. For the actual cooking class, we went back to a restaurant and Guiliano taught us to make Causa, Pisco Sours and Ceviche. It was a good class and we all made foods that tasted and looked very good. We then had a toast with Guiliano at the end. He kept track of all of our names and food preferences and allergies. He did a great job and was a lot of fun.

Excellent Class, great learning and great fun - Really enjoyed the cooking class and market tour. The market tour was hugely valuable and I would absolutely recommend if you have the extra time. Got to try a lot of local fruits and other foods that I would not have ever tried without a local guide. The cooking class was a blast. Had a lot of fun but also made great food. It was really easy cooking, so I would recommend for any ability level.

After the market I had an excellent cooking class with Jorge who in addition to teaching super well makes the activity a super time for everyone! I definitely recommend this activity!

Easy Introduction to the basics of Peruvian Cuisine - I had a great experience at Luchito's cooking class. The day started with an hour-long stroll through the local market, where chef Camila briefly explained the variety of fruits, fish, and meats in Spanish (upon my request). The market itself wasn’t anything surprising—just a typical local market—but I did try a delicious lucuma juice there, which I highly recommend (definitely go for the milk-based version!). Also I tasted some fruits that I haven't tried before—like a cactus fruit—and some others that I, of course, don't remember the names of. If you happen to visit the market on your own, I suggest taking some time to try the food they cook at the small diner right next to the fish section—they seemed to serve very authentic seafood dishes. Back at the kitchen, Giuliano, another young chef, showed us how to prepare a couple of classic Peruvian dishes: chicken causa and ceviche made with fresh mahi-mahi straight from the ocean. We also made a traditional pisco sour cocktail. Most of the ingredients were pre-prepared—boiled chicken, cooked potatoes, ready-made sauces, sugar syrup, and lime juice—so the focus was mainly on assembling and mixing everything together. If you're looking to cook everything from scratch, you'd probably need more time and some cooking skills. Plus, if you're not in Peru, it might be tricky to find key ingredients like yellow potatoes, rocoto and yellow peppers, and especially fresh fish from the nearby bay of the Pacific ocean. What really stood out to me was realizing that Peruvian cuisine isn't about complicated cooking techniques but rather about the fresh, local ingredients that make the dishes unique and flavorful. Camila and Giuliano were friendly and welcoming, and we had a great conversation while enjoying the food we prepared. There were only two of us students in the class, which made it feel like a private session. Big thanks to the whole team for a fun and insightful experience. Recommend this class to anyone wanting to explore Peruvian flavors in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Camila is a great teacher! - If you're in Peru and looking for an unforgettable culinary experience, Camila's cooking class is an absolute must! She is hands down the best teacher ever—enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. We had the pleasure of learning to cook authentic Peruvian dishes, including an amazing shredded chicken and potato dish (not to mention a flavorful guacamole), a fantastic ceviche that tasted like it was straight from the coast, and the perfect Pisco Sour to top it all off. Every step of the way, Camila guided us with expertise and made the experience fun and engaging. As a bonus, you leave the class with not just new skills and recipes but also a certificate and a free shaker to continue making Pisco Sours at home. It's a wonderful touch that makes the whole experience even more memorable. We highly recommend Camila’s class to anyone visiting Peru—it’s a true highlight and a great way to immerse yourself in the culture. Don't miss out!!!

Worth every penny! - Camila is an excellent guide! We went to the local market sampled a lot of local fruits, while I also learnt a lot about Peruvian culture. Warning: It could be a little graphic, with meat just hanging outside stores. The cooking class is hands down a must do if you truly want an immersive Peruvian experience. It was fun listening to Camila tell us the story behind each dish we made (Cuasa, Pisca Sour, Ceviche). The mixer with which we made the Pisca Sour was a souvenir we could take home, which I thought was nice. Overall, I would highly recommend it.
