Way more than food! - This was our second food tour while in Peru. Our first was focused on the traditional Peruvian dishes. This one, like the title says was more of a local experience where everyday Peruvians might grab some food. The amazing thing was, when we arrived in the historic district to meet our tour guide it was none other than Manuel! Our tour guide from 10 days earlier who introduced us to the traditional Peruvian dishes on our first day the country. We were so excited to get to spend more time with him as he led us through the historic district explaining the history of Lima and the architecture from the different time periods. We also saw several government buildings including the Government palace and Congress as well as many cathedrals dating from the 16th century. During our visit, the area around the palace was blocked due to dignitaries from Ecuador visiting Peru. This didn’t interrupt our tour. He was able to keep us schedule with all of our stops. Don’t worry, there was food involved! Manuel does a great job of mixing in history and culture in between food stops. We started with Peruvian tamales and Pisco. Other stops included a very popular sandwich shop among the locals. We visited a local market where people from the community shop for meat, produce and really almost anything you can think of! We sampled several fruits native to Peru. We stopped at several food stands and ate the best churros we’ve ever had! My wife and I highly recommend this tour. Hopefully you get Manuel. He was kind, knowledgeable and fun to hang out with. Thank you Manuel for a wonderful time!

Amazing and fun experience! - We had an amazing and fun experience. Our guide, Manuel Giron, was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. He is very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Lima. When I said to him that I am very interested in architecture and history, he took us to different colonial buildings and shares their histories with us. The restaurants and food carts he took us to all serve great food and gave us an experience of Peru’s different flavors. I highly recommend this company and please ask for Manuel. He is such a great guide!

Great Walking Food Tour! - I had a great time with Yozelin! This had so much great food. We learned so much history and details on the food while on the tour. It was a lot of steps - about 10k - but was a great way to see downtown Lima and eat amazing food!
