Ships departed from its ports to explore the unknown, braving the perils of the oceans to discover new lands, construct churches and forts, and establish Portugal as the first global empire in history.
Belém is also regarded as one of the most beautiful locations in the city, featuring numerous historical buildings and renowned UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as the Jeronimos Monastery and the Tower of Belém. Both were envisioned by King D. Manuel I and constructed in a distinctive architectural style that came to be known as the “Manueline Style.”
The tour will also include visits to the remarkable Monument to the Discoveries, the impressive Presidential Palace, Afonso de Albuquerque Square, the gardens of Belém, the CBB, the Compass Rose, and the famous Pastéis de Belém.
