A wonderful day soaking up sunshine and history in Évora… - We took this tour in September, with Marco as our guide. My husband, daughter, and I were the only ones who booked this tour that day, so essentially we got a private tour! Marco, our guide, was just fantastic. For one, it was an hours drive from Lisbon to Evora, and Marco immediately made us feel at ease. By the day’s end, I felt like we were being guided by a good friend and not merely a hired guide. Two, he is extremely knowledgeable about Evora and the surrounding area - and he was so enthusiastic in sharing that knowledge with us. We had considered taking the train to Evora on our own from Lisbon, but we quickly realized that having Marco as our guide was the better choice. Everywhere we went, he had insightful, informative comments that greatly enhanced our visit. This tour included a visit to the old Roman temple, a cathedral nearby (which, honestly, was my favorite part of the tour) where we also walked on the roof, and had great views over the town of Evora and the surrounding countryside. We also visited a former monastery that is now a museum, and of course, the Chapel of Bones. The latter is truly fascinating and well worth a visit. We had a wonderful, delicious lunch at the museum’s cafeteria terrace. The final visit was to a winery not too far from Evora. Honestly, this was the only disappointing part of the visit. While the winery grounds are beautiful, and the stagecoaches museum fascinating, the wine-tasting itself was disappointing. Our tour included just two wines for tasting, a white and a red, and I really did not care for either. (And I like wine and drink it regularly, and I generally like Portuguese wine). I would have rather taken this time and visited another historical site nearby. (But this was not our tour guide’s fault, of course. But maybe a suggestion for the tour company.) But overall, I was very, very happy with this tour and again, with our guide, Marco. Both his guidance and the town of Evora exceeded our expectations. If I ever return to Portugal, I would love to return to Evora to explore the town and area further. Thank you, again, Marco, if you get an opportunity to read this! And I also apologize for not writing this review sooner. We very much enjoyed our day in Evora. It was a highlight of our trip to Portugal.

Great Time - I was the only person on the English tour and I am so happy that they didn't cancel. The countryside was beautiful, lunch was great at A Bruxa D'Evora Restaurante, and a personal wine tour and tasting. Mario was a great tour guide.

Excursion to Évora - The Brazilian guide Marco was wonderful, accompanied us at every point, took photos, told us the stories of the places and took us to lunch at a typical restaurant in Évora, super friendly and welcoming, was a great guide, super indico. The city of Évora is also beautiful, the automotive points are, the chapel of bones, the Roman temple and the Sé de Évora. Now that the winemaking is a bad choice at JP Azeitão, the tour is super run, the person “request” the information, the tasting is even worse, I bought: wine tasting with typical snacks and will serve biscuit!!!! Other shame, do not take the Brazilians to this winemaker, it is terrible, I would like to give us a choice of winemakers, even because there are so many in this region and put us in one of this quality?!
