We loved it! - We really enjoyed this show. We loved that it included clips providing the background of Fado music. The singers and musicians were great. And we loved that all of the music came from them- no back tracks. It was beautiful. We also enjoyed the glass of port wine provided upon entrance. We definitely recommend for a true Fado experience.

Normal experience - We found it a very commercial experience. The great musicians, the song that make beautiful instrumental. The girl sang very pretty, with many records in her voice, not easy. The boy very friendly and close, making the public participate.

Racism at Fado (Show) - My husband and I were looking forward to our Fado night at Lisboa em Fado. Unfortunately, Sara Paixão, the female artist that performed that night ruined our evening. At first things went as planned. We arrived, sat down and fully enjoyed the show including the sing-along. At the end of the performance, several people went to the front of the venue to speak with Sara and with a male artist who also sang that night. My husband was feeling a bit claustrophobic, so he decided to skip the meet and greet session and stepped outside. As I patiently waited in line for my turn to speak with Sara, I noticed that she was very friendly and engaged in conversation with all the people who approached her. When it was my turn, she totally ignored me and attempted to speak with the people who were behind me. Although her behavior caught me off guard, it immediately dawned on me that she was being dismissive because I am a Black person. I do want to point out that I do not play the race card every time something goes wrong. There are instances like this one however when it is obvious why one is being discriminated against. I had also realized early on that I was the only Black person in the audience which is trivial to me. Despite her behavior, I still congratulated her and let her know that I had had a great time. She did not deserve my kind words after what she had done but I am proud of myself because I demonstrated that I am the bigger person. She swiftly thanked me and proceeded to start a conversation with the folks behind me. I am an open-minded, highly educated, well-dressed and well-behaved person who expects to be treated with utmost respect and dignity. Shame on you Sara Paixão for having such an unacceptable behavior! I have already shared my experience through social media and beyond. I also have a video that proves that I was in attendance that night. There is no place for racism in society, especially in this day and age. Moreover, businesses should value all of their customers because they depend on them. Lisboa em Fado depends on us the tourists, who are the people who attend these types of shows.
