Fantastic trip! - Our trip to Sintra et al was one of the best trips we have ever taken, thanks to a great itinerary and our extraordinary guide Filipe. He was not only incredibly knowledable and enthusiastic but created a nice group dynamic, peppered his talk with fun facts, engaged us, and encouraged Q & A. We learned so much about history, architecture, and plant life plus during restful driving times also about Fado and Portuguese music with samples played. Can highly recommend 10/10.

A fantastic experience that exceeded my expectations! - An awesome day! Thanks to our guide, Filipe who provided insightful commentary, sharing fascinating stories and (fun) facts that deepened my understanding of the areas we visited. His ability to engage the group made the tour feel interactive rather than a mere lecture. The transportation was comfortable and relaxing. We had enough time at each stop to soak in the sights, take photos, and enjoy a leisurely lunch. I truly recommend this day trip with Modern Tours, it was worth every minute!

Raphael made Peña Palace come to life - Raphael was the best, His knowledge of the Pena Palace and Portugal history was excellent. He went out of he’s way to show us extra items during the tour!! A must do!!

Fabulous Day - What an amazing day. We learnt so much from our fabulous guide Edi, he worked so hard looking after us and his information was fascinating. Five complete strangers talked all day and became friends. Highly recommended to explore Lisbon with this company. Make sure you ask for Edi !

WONDERFUL Pena Palace & Garden Tour & AWESOME Sintra & Beach Visits — Hugo was a GREAT tour leader! - What a great all-day tour with Hugo! Hugo was a terrific tour leader — extremely knowledgeable about Portugal, well-spoken and personable with a great sense of humor. The tour van was clean and comfortable. We had a terrific group of tour people today — I was attending the tour solo since my husband had business commitments and the group of people in the tour were fun and interactive with all aspects of the tour. Hugo is a huge ASSET to this tour company, and had in-depth knowledge about virtually everything related to the Pena Palace & gardens, including the history of the palace, its construction, knowledge about the plants & trees in the garden, and tied it all together with a detailed historical perspective of the politics of Portugal and the leadership in the Portugal government over the last centuries. Hugo’s presentation was great — he was responsive to questions from the group, he was funny and his depth of knowledge, particularly about Pena Palace itself, was amazing! It was worth the time and tour cost and I would recommend it highly! A few tips for this tour: (1) The walking is extensive and there are many hills for your trek through the gardens and the palace (both up and down) — make sure you wear comfortable shoes and do NOT have difficulty negotiating uneven ground and stone pathways; (2) Make sure to pay the slight additional cost to do the interior AND exterior of Pena Palace parts of the tour — you must have a ticket to access the inside of the Palace with Hugo and he continues your personalized tour throughout the inside of the Palace with him as your tour guide. While you will still be able to take in the beautiful exterior of the Palace and gorgeous views with an Exteriors ticket, the interior of the Palace has many original decor features, furniture and historical detail that bring you into the lives and history of those that lived there before — it is well worth the slight additional cost to experience the entirety of the Palace and get amazing photos of both inside and outside of Pena Palace; and (3) Plan on spending the entire day in all locations included in the tour, but if there is one city or place that you would like to spend more time, let your tour guide know — for example, one of the tour participants wanted to stop at a particularly beautiful beach on the way to Cascais, we stopped there and got more amazing photos of the beach and ocean. If I could spend more time in any one place, I would ask to spend more time in Sintra — it is a charming town with great food, good shopping and lots of local flavor. Overall, it was a GREAT tour and if you are lucky enough to get Hugo as your tour guide, you will enjoy your day immensely!

Very informative tour and lovely day away from the busyness of Lisbon - Julia was a great source of information about the history of Portugal and the palace itself. Small group so also met some wonderful travellers from around the world. What a great day!!

Special Sintra - Our tour of Sintra and Pena Palace was great fun. Our guide Edi was wonderful and well versed in The history of the places we visited. He made sure the Group handled the walk. Gave great recommendations for lunch souvenir shopping, and even ice cream. Would absolutely love to go back again.

Perfect day tour - We thoroughly enjoyed our tour to Pena palace and surrounding areas. Edi was our guide for the 9 hours. He spoke very well and was very easy to understand. His love and knowledge of Portuguese history was apparent. He was eager to answer questions and encouraged our group to ask them. He was also pleasant and flexible for the groups needs The tour itself was just what we wanted. We toured the Pena palace and the grounds as well. With the tour we were able to skip the long lines for the palace entry. We stopped in Cascais as well as Sinatra The towns were charming and Edi gave us super recommendations. We thoroughly recommend this tour
