Situated in the Palmela region, specifically in Poceirão, the winery is at the heart of the Setúbal Peninsula’s wine-growing area. They currently manage 112 hectares of vineyards across 11 properties in Poceirão, Fernando Pó, and Marateca. Come and explore their exquisite wines.
• Poceirão - For lunch, a visit to a local family-owned restaurant, run by a fisherman and his family in the Poceirão region, is planned. Here, guests can savor fresh local fish, with other options available as well. If this restaurant is unavailable, an alternative local eatery will be chosen.
• Casa Ermelinda Freitas - Founded in 1920 by Leonilde Freitas, this winery was later managed by her granddaughter, Germana Freitas, and subsequently by her great-granddaughter, Ermelinda Freitas, after whom the winery is named. Following the untimely passing of her husband, Ermelinda Freitas continued the business with her daughter, Leonor Freitas, maintaining the tradition of female leadership. The vineyard, located south of Lisbon, features sandy soils rich in water, crucial for grape maturation. The cooling breezes from the Tejo and Sado rivers during dry summers contribute to the wines’ smoothness and elegance. Castelão, the signature varietal of the Setúbal Peninsula, constitutes 40% of Casa Ermelinda Freitas’ vineyards.

Immerse yourself in the flavours of Lisbon’s Southern Wine Region, Setúbal. In this private wine tasting tour, travel to two historic wineries, sampling their locally produced wines. In addition, taste the distinct flavours of local grape varieties and gastronomy. The vine plain is renowned for the quality of its grapes. Divided into small farms since the arrival of the railway in 1861, it is distinguished by the layer of soft sands covering the clay soil. The microclimate, tempered by the Tagus and Sado rivers, protects and facilitates the perfect ripening of the grapes. Being a private tour, participants will be just you (your group) and your guide.
