• Praça do Comércio (Terreiro do Paço) - Praça do Comércio, often still referred to by its former name Terreiro do Paço, is a square in Lisbon’s Baixa district located by the Tagus River. It was the site of the Portuguese royal palace for about two centuries and is now partially occupied by some government departments.

• Castelo de S. Jorge - A National Monument since 1910, it stands in a commanding position on the highest hill of the historic center, offering visitors one of the most beautiful views over the city and the Tagus River estuary.

Its construction began in the second half of the 12th century, following the city’s conquest from the Moors by King Afonso Henriques, and it now presents a blend of architectural styles.

• Alfama - Alfama is the oldest and one of the most typical neighborhoods in Lisbon. Currently, it covers part of the parish of Santa Maria Maior and another part of the parish of São Vicente. Its name derives from the Arabic al-hamma (الحمّة), meaning ‘hot springs, good waters.’

• Panteão Nacional - The National Pantheon is intended to honor and perpetuate the memory of Portuguese citizens who distinguished themselves through services to the country, in high public offices, significant military services, the expansion of Portuguese culture, literary, scientific, and artistic creation, or in the defense of civilization values, for the dignity of the human person and the cause of freedom.

• 25 de Abril Bridge - The 25 de Abril Bridge is a suspension road-rail bridge over the Tagus River, connecting Lisbon to Almada. The bridge is 2,277 meters long. With a free span of 1,013 meters, the 25 de Abril Bridge is the 33rd largest suspension bridge in the world. The upper deck houses 6 road lanes (3 in each direction), while the lower deck accommodates two railway lines.

• Champalimaud Foundation - The Champalimaud Foundation, formally the D. Anna de Sommer Champalimaud and Dr. Carlos Montez Champalimaud Foundation, is a Portuguese non-profit organization dedicated to conducting scientific research activities in the field of medicine.

• Torre de Belém - One of the city’s landmarks, this monument is an icon of the architecture from the reign of King Manuel I. The Torre de Belém is a fortification located in the parish of Belém, Municipality and District of Lisbon. Over time, the tower lost its defensive function of the Tagus bar, and from the Philippine occupation, the old magazines were replaced by dungeons. The tower’s four floors still house the Governor’s Room, the King’s Room, the Audience Room, and finally, the Chapel with its characteristic 16th-century vaults.

• Sacadura Cabral and Gago Coutinho Monument - The first successful aerial crossing of the South Atlantic was completed by Portuguese aviators Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral in 1922, during the celebrations of the First Centenary of Brazil’s Independence.

• Padrão dos Descobrimentos - Prominently positioned on the right bank of the Tagus River, the original monument, made of perishable materials, was erected in 1940 for the Portuguese World Exhibition to honor the historical figures involved in the Portuguese Discoveries. The current replica, made of concrete and stone, was inaugurated in 1960.
