- Miradouro das Portas do Sol - Portas do Sol viewpoint
This viewpoint is essentially a large balcony above the ancient Alfama neighborhood. Its panoramic view has graced countless postcards, depicting a colorful Mediterranean village cascading to the waterfront. It’s a must-visit for anyone wanting the best photos of old Lisbon, with the towers of the Monastery of St. Vincent and the dome of the National Pantheon standing out in the skyline.
- Miradouro de Santa Luzia - Santa Luzia Viewpoint
Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Lisbon. Contributing to this are the trams that pass by, ringing bells; the magnificent decorative tile panels; one shows the Praça do Comercio before the 1755 earthquake, and the other depicts the battle to retake the city in 1147 between the Christians and the Moors.
- Miradouro da Senhora do Monte - The Miradouro da Senhora do Monte is one of Lisbon’s key landmarks. It is also one of the quietest and least frequented viewpoints in the city, despite offering an exceptional panoramic view. A few meters from the Graça viewpoint, its stage-like format provides a privileged view of the capital. On the left, find the church of Graça and the imposing castle of São Jorge, standing as the city’s guardian.
In the background, the sea of straw and the Tagus estuary shine, illuminating the roofs of the Baixa and the ruins in Carmo.
This is the space where the first King of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, set up camp for the conquest of Lisbon in 1147.
- Mosteiro de Sao Vicente de Fora - Visit the incredible Monastery of Saint Vincent Outside the Walls.
During the siege of Lisbon in 1147, D. Afonso Henriques made a promise: if he succeeded in conquering the city, he would commission a monastery dedicated to Saint Vincent, a highly revered Saint among the Mozarabs. This monastery was founded in the same year “outside” the city walls, justifying the building’s name.

Panteao Nacional - National Pantheon
Considered Portugal’s first baroque monument, its interior is inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome and is made of colored marble.
Originally the Church of Saint Engratia when built in 1682, it became the National Pantheon in 1916. Its large dome was only completed in 1966, making it the monument that took the longest to complete in all of Portugal.
- Alfama - One of the oldest neighborhoods in Lisbon, where the traditional Portuguese music, Fado, was born and is still cherished. Visit the old houses that survived the devastating earthquake of 1755. This is a popular spot in Lisbon, where the feast of Santo Antonio is celebrated in June.
