- Oceanario de Lisboa - Opened during the Lisbon World Exposition of 1998, the Oceanario is a top attraction. With over 1 million annual visitors, it offers an enchanting glimpse into the underwater world. Explore 8,000 sea creatures from 500 species, including penguins, otters, sharks, and corals. The main exhibit features a 5-million-liter saltwater aquarium, surrounded by habitats representing the North Atlantic, Antarctic, Temperate Pacific, and Tropical Indian Ocean. The journey unfolds on two levels, crossing temperate, tropical, and cold waters of different oceans. Notable installations include “Forests Underwater” and “ONE - The Sea as you’ve never felt it,” both celebrating oceanic beauty and connection with nature. The Oceanario is not just a spectacle; it actively promotes ocean education, research, and conservation efforts, collaborating with various institutions. Spectacular - A fantastic Aquarium that boasts many species, both fish, birds, and amphibians. Kept and organized very well. It is really huge and you can spend most of the day there quietly

Busy but worth it - Very well laid out large aquarium, which can deal with large groups quite well. We went when it opened but it got busy very quickly. The design of the building means that there are plenty of opportunities to view the main attraction which is the huge central aquarium, complete with sharks. Penguins were not there when we were there as they bit was being done up which was a shame, but we got up close and personal with the puffins instead.

Would be good if they let in half the people - You have to buy a timed ticket, but despite this, it is absolutely heaving. We had a 10am ticket for opening, yet so many people in the building it is hard to believe there is any attempt to limit the number of tickets sold. This coupled with loads of rude entitled ADULTS who pushed their way to the tanks to take a single crappy picture on their phone and then walk away without having looked in the tank, leaving the small kids who actually want to see the sea life to be pushed out the way.
The actual layout of the aquarium otherwise was pretty cool. The sea otters are cute. Sadly no penguins currently. Needs more information on identifying some creatures, particularly in the amphibians area.

Average! Not the experience we expected. - Decided to book a visit here as it is described as one of the best! Large queues on entrance. One to get your ticket and then a second to enter! Once inside we felt the space was very cramped at times with large crowds all trying to look in the tanks. There is one central tank that can be viewed at different levels and then small tanks for other smaller fish. Have visited other aquariums which have been designed better and more spacious. Tanks were off 6 deep and you had to wait your turn to get close. Penguins were kept in a very small area. They did have a video experience at the start which is worth a visit. Would have liked hands on experience of star fish etc. boards include write up in English. Might be better on a quiet day. Or go very early or late. Bus from Lisbon to aquarium gets extremely full and at times you can’t get on so have to wait 30 minutes for next bus. We took an Uber home in the end because of this. If you have a great desire to visit then do, but there are other things to do that are better value and more pleasant in our experience.

Pass your way - Too crowded and too expensive for the service and show on offer. There are many more interesting things to see in Lisbon.

Pricey for the short duration. - 4 adults and 2 children.
It is big and you can walk around a lot. The places where there is movement and it is interesting to look at are in the minority. Many walk with long stretches nothing t see.
The pinnacle is the large fishbowl that you can walk all the way around. The kids can keep themselves busy here.
For adults a little less, unless you are passionate about this genre of course.
We ran out pretty quickly and found it very expensive.

Too busy - Too busy to see anything. They let far too many people in to the point it’s almost impossible to get close to anything with a family. See the photo which was pretty much the same at most viewing areas. At 80E for a family this makes it hugely expensive too. Even without the crowds there are much better aquariums.

25 euros for that? No - Frankly 25 euros for a nice film, some aquariums very difficult to approach with the clumped world and a small exhibition upstairs is very expensive for the visit.
Very disappointed with what looks like a small scam well wrapped...
