- Basilica de Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima - Enjoy the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle as you head to the charming town of Fátima, a small village that has become one of the most revered pilgrimage destinations. Fátima gained notoriety in 1917 when three young shepherds reported visions of the Virgin Mary. Since then, the site has become an important center of Catholic devotion.
Your main destination is the Sanctuary of Fátima, an impressive complex that includes the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary. This sanctuary is a significant landmark for the faithful, attracting millions of visitors annually who come to express their faith and gratitude. As you explore the sanctuary, you will find not only the imposing basilica, but also a series of chapels, gardens and monuments that offer a space for reflection and spirituality.
- Batalha Monastery - Afterwards, continue your journey to the Batalha Monastery, a magnificent 14th century building that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This monument is a remarkable example of the artistic and architectural heritage of the late medieval period.
While visiting the monastery, you will have the opportunity to explore the grand Founder’s Chapel, the final resting place of King John I, Queen Philippa of Lancaster and the famous Prince Henry the Navigator. Although access to the main church is free, which is what we will visit, the full visit to the monastery, including the cloisters and other areas, requires the payment of an additional fee, which must be paid directly at the local ticket office by the guest. Given the limited time available (which we do not have much time for).
- Miradouro do Suberco - We will stop to explore the charming historic center of Nazaré, a place full of stories of miracles and visions, as well as offering one of the most stunning views of the Portuguese coast.
- Praia da Nazare - We will take a short break for lunch (own expense) in Nazaré, a charming fishing town known for its wide variety of restaurants and cafés. Popular with the Portuguese as a summer destination, Nazaré provides an authentic taste of local life. After lunch, we will make a brief stop at the Nazaré cliffs, from where you can admire stunning views of the ocean.
- Obidos Village - Finally, head to the charming medieval village of Óbidos. Founded in 208 BC, Óbidos is affectionately known as Portugal’s “city of wedding gifts,” as it was given as a gift by King Dinis to Queen Isabella on her wedding day in 1282. Accompanied by your guide, visit one of the traditional wine shops to sample the famous Ginja liqueur. Afterwards, enjoy some free time to explore the village’s charming medieval fortress, with its narrow streets, colorful houses, and Gothic doors and windows adorned with flower pots and beautiful tiles. Enjoy a snack or browse the small shops selling a variety of beautiful handmade ceramics before we return to Lisbon.
- Rossio Train Station - The tour we are going to take lasts 8 to 9 hours, with approximately 3 to 4 hours of that time being dedicated to transportation, that is, moving between each monument or place we will visit.
