Highlights
  • Torre de Belem - A tower where the Portuguese Crown monitored the arrival and departure of Portuguese caravels during the Age of Discoveries 500 years ago.
  • Padrao dos Descobrimentos - Situated prominently on the right bank of the Tagus River, the original monument, made from perishable materials, was erected in 1940 for the Portuguese World Exhibition to honor the historical figures of the Portuguese Discoveries. The current concrete and stone replica was inaugurated in 1960.
  • MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology - Opened in October 2016 as part of the EDP Foundation’s long-standing cultural patronage, the MAAT is an international institution dedicated to fostering critical discourse and creative practice.
  • 25 de Abril Bridge - The 25 de Abril Bridge is a road-rail suspension bridge spanning the Tagus River, connecting Lisbon (north bank) to Almada (south bank) in Portugal. The bridge is 2,277 meters long, with a free span of 1,013 meters, making it the 33rd longest suspension bridge in the world. It was inaugurated on August 6, 1966.
  • Praca do Comercio (Terreiro do Paco) - Praça do Comércio, still commonly known by its old name Terreiro do Paço, is a square in downtown Lisbon next to the Tagus River. It was the site of the Portuguese royal palace for around two centuries and is now partially occupied by some government departments.
  • Sanctuary of Christ the King-Portugal - The idea for the Monument to Christ the King originated in 1934 during a visit to Brazil by the then Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon, D. Manuel Gonçalves Cerejeira. Inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, he envisioned a similar monument facing Lisbon. The first stone was laid on December 18, 1949, after World War II, and the monument was inaugurated on May 17, 1959. It offers the best viewpoint over Lisbon, providing a panoramic view of the city and the 25 de Abril Bridge. The sanctuary and monument to Christ the King are frequently featured in tourist reports about Lisbon, marking it as a landmark of Almada.

Most memorable sail - MOST definitely the BEST and most memorable excursion in Portugal. VERY Lovely sailors/crew, Paulo and Kelly, whom provided my family and I exceptional hospitality and entertainment. Even though it was very windy, the crews cater to our needs. Paulo stayed behind to ensure an iPhone was retrieved by the scuba diver after it was dropped at the dock. Thank you so much for making the sunset sail the most memorable event of our family vacation. P.S. This review is entered with the iPhone recovered from the dock after submerged under water for 3 hours. 😂👍
