During this excursion, we’ll explore a stunning natural site near Lisbon, the Arrábida Hills, known for its mesmerizing ocean vistas.
We begin with a stop at the Christ the King viewpoint on the southern shore of the Tagus river, which offers an awe-inspiring, panoramic sweep of the coast extending from Lisbon to Cascais.
Journeying towards Setúbal, we’ll explore Palmela’s medieval castle. From its highest tower, it offers views of the sweeping Alentejo plains and provides an insight into Portugal’s defensive history against Spain in the 14th century.
Our visit in Setúbal includes a stop at the vibrant fishing port and, if available, the renowned fish market. This is a perfect spot for a lunch break where you can enjoy a savory sea-fresh fish meal.
Post-lunch, we ascend to a 400-year old fortress perched on a hill, where we can marvel at the views across the Setúbal bay, learn about the historic location, and enjoy a coffee on a terrace overlooking the ocean.
Prior to our return to Lisbon, we’ll journey to the peaks of the Arrábia mountain range to appreciate its jaw-dropping landscapes.
