The palace was built by King Fernando II, who was a great admirer of German romantic architecture. The project was inspired by medieval castles and baroque churches, with a mix of styles that results in a unique and inimitable building.
- Sintra - Sintra, a charming village with a rich history, is known for its ancient, winding streets. A walk through the village streets is a great way to experience its unique atmosphere. The streets are narrow and paved with cobblestones, (Wear comfortable shoes) and the houses are built in stone and tiles.
You’ll find a mix of ancient and modern architecture, from traditional Portuguese houses to mountain chalets.
As you walk, you will be able to see many important landmarks such as the Sintra National Palace, the Castle of the Moors and Quinta da Regaleira.
