Additional Information

We want to take you inside a time machine and arrive back a few centuries ago, as our first stop is the former roman town of Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986, with roman, visigoth, muslim and portuguese influence. In Évora history crosspaths with us in every corner, in this big puzzle of historical monuments with more than 1000 years old. The walking tour starts at São Francisco church and the Bones Chapes, one of the must see places in Évora. Heading next to the medieval heart of the city where the Cathedral (the biggest in Portugal) can be found but also some antique testimonials like, Roman Temple cand the Roman baths. There will also be time for an olive oil tasting, free time to shop and to lunch … by any means skip the local food. Definitely no to skip the 2027 European Cultural Capital. We Finish This day with a visit to the Capital of Portuguese Handmade Carpets, tasting Wine, Olive Oil & local Patties.

Amazing experience - Our guide, Ricky, was very erudite and engaging in sharing the history of Evora and Portugal and the landmarks. He elevated the experience from a tour of the town to an exposition of how history and culture evolve layer by layer. It was a most enjoyable experience. I highly recommend it!

Spectacularly Amazing Day! - Took this day tour with Ricky and Maria Teresa and it was superb in every sense of the word. Ricky is a great guide, teaching you something at every step. Evora is amazing; the people are lovely and the sites are priceless. Highly recommended! We did the olive oil and rug making tour in Arroilos too plus the castle there. Excellent day!

Good experience - We had a wonderful time in Evora with our tour guide Andrea. She was extremely organized, knowledgeable, and managed our experience effectively. Andrea relayed a ton of information to us while still giving us free time / time to take photos and enjoy Evora independently. She was also a very safe driver. Thank you, Andrea!

Temple of Diana plus more - Our guide Andreia was excellent! She was very good at telling us stories of the area of Portugal known as Alentejo, even to proper pronunciations of people and places. There was an olive oil tasting, which I've never done. We looked for the rare black pig in the countryside, but saw none. However, that was lunch, and it was very tasty! I had time to climb to the top of the cathedral after lunch, for a view of the city, very nice! It was also the only dry day of my 6-day stay in Portugal.

So much history and beauty - Miguel was very knowledgeable and gave us plenty of time at each stop. The highlight for me was the purchase of 3 jars of Alentejo honey (Mel). Enjoyed walking through history in Èvora. Will be recommending to my brother who will visit me in November.

Great Evora portion of the trip. - We enjoyed the Evora portion of the trip. Since the normal second part of the trip was switched to Arroilolos due to a temporary closure, we felt it was just used as filler. We would have rather been charged less and had a half day trip. Thanks.

Not what we expected - We were disappointed to learn that Almendres Cromlech is closed for six months so the tour was not what we signed up for. Evora is a quaint town and the Chapel of Bones is quite a curiosity. In lieu of Almendres Cromlech, we stopped at a second village for olive oil tasting and a visit to the Rug Interpretation Centre. Our guide Daniel was very knowledgeable and we appreciated his commentary along the way, including pointing out the stork nests in the hydro towers! It was an interesting day but not what we expected.

I liked our gide Daniel, ... - I liked our gide Daniel, he was very knowledgeable about the region. The church was beautiful. The size of the group was double the size i expected. The bus was disappointing and uncomfortable. The 2nd location was changed last minute. And the olive oil/ Wine experience was not what I expected.

Underwhelming - We booked for small tour max 8 persons. There were 15. We booked hotel pick up. We were picked up on time in the morning but not returned to our hotel but dropped of by the Hard Rock Cafe. We were advised a day or two in advance that due to the temporary closure of the Almendres cromlech, we would go to Arraiolos, to do the olive oil & wine tasting; to visit the castle and the Arraiolos carpet interpretation center. We didn’t visit the castle and I found the olive oil and wine tasting underwhelming. However it was a relaxing day away from the crowds of tourists

We felt we were not respected - Evora was an interesting place to see. The tour guide gave us a brief description and not much else. At times he selected a location to speak where other groups were conversing and we couldn’t hear. The tour guide drove at 150 km/hr (93 mph) following other vehicles about one car length behind. Even after we complained he continued the practice.
