  • Doolin - Stop for Lunch

As a designated Geopark Geosite, the pier attracts geologists due to the surrounding limestone, which is among the youngest in the Burren and rich with fossils. On a freshly broken rock surface, you’ll see sparkles as light reflects off the calcite crystals that form the stalks of these sea creatures.

Doolin Cave, or Pól an Ionáin, features the Great Stalactite, the largest free-hanging stalactite in Europe and the third largest in the world. Step back over 350 million years on a fully guided tour 200 feet beneath the karst Burren landscape. Afterward, explore above ground, meet friendly farm animals on the nature trail, and learn about the unique Burren flora.

Doolin is near many of the Burren’s top tourist attractions, including Fanore Blue Flag Beach, the spa town of Lisdoonvarna, the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience, the seaside resort of Lahinch, and numerous national monuments of the Burren.

Great private trip! - Well worth the long drive from Dublin! Our driver Mark contacted us the day before our trip to confirm details, and arrived at our hotel right on time. On the subject of time, it takes about 2.5 - 3 hours to get from Dublin to the Cliffs, so you have to plan your day accordingly. It is not possible to stop in every location you might want to see along the way. It just takes too much time. Mark was an excellent driver, very friendly, and had a nice Mercedes sedan for us to ride in. On our journey we spent about 90 minutes at the Cliffs, 30 minutes in Doolin and about 45 minutes at Sean's bar and that made for a very full day from Dublin and back. We were also fortunate enough to have great weather. If it is rainy, I recommend you consider an alternate destination. It was far more enjoyable doing this private trip than going on a big bus, as we could decide on how much or little time we wanted to spend in each spot as well as choosing which places to visit along the way. Highly recommend

The Cliffs of Moher and so much MORE! - Jerry was the absolute best! He gave us the most personalized experience and we loved every minute. He picked us up at our hotel and gave us time to get some snacks for our road trip. Jerry was so pleasant with friendly conversation and stopped along the way not only to use the restrooms but to see some side sights. When we got to the cliffs, he told us where to go for the best pictures. After the cliffs we told him we were hungry and instead of waiting to go to Galway he let us stop in Doolin and we had a bite to eat which was perfect! On our way back he stopped at the most charming chocolate shop. It was absolutely lovely. The shop was so cute, and the chocolate was amazing. It was also attached to a coffee and sandwich shop. We also stopped at other places to take pictures and take in all the wonderful sites. Jerry is top notch and gave us a luxury, VIP experience. Thank you Jerry!

The best way to visit Moher and Galway! - This trip was outstanding: from the excellent car and driving to Gerry’s attentive yet easy going vibe the trip was fully customized and a 7star experience. Besides the Cliffs of Moher and Galway we stopped at the Burren Perfumery which houses the most charming Tea Shop with an organic local produce based menu to outshine the best cafes I’ve eaten at. The perfumery surprised me with a collection of magical fragrances and healing creams. Having a private car and going at your own pace is the way to do this route. Double thumbs up!
