Great. But get the cable car. - Great thing to see. Not mind blowing but good to see. Wouldn't bother if it was raining. Lovely cafe too. Read a review about walking up and down and decided to take the cable car too

Great medieval castle - Amazing castle, with great view over the city. Not as big as the one in Prague for example. You can buy a ticket just for the funicular to take you up, around 3€, but to enter all rooms, you need the one for 12€. Easy to walk down, short distance with lovely views.

Amazing - Amazing castle. For those who are a bit afraid of heights (as me) and was naive enough to think you would be ok - take the bus up and down. Do not walk or take the funicular as the edges can be very steep 🤭

Beautiful castle - I was confused about the ticket I bought. It said I had entrance to the castle and museums and the funicular down….but I was not aware that i could take the funicular UP! So I hiked up the hill to the castle. I suppose I should have checked before I took the hike - I learned that day. So my advice is to just check at the funicular station first to see if the ticket will work or not. Other than that, the castle is beautiful and the views are breathtaking….I highly recommend it. There is also a puppet museum, a cafe, and a wine bar.

Good views from above - It is more of a touristic rather than historical location. But there are great views. It is a must go when at Ljubljana…

Ljubljana Castle quick, convenient and a must see - Ljubljana is a great place to visit and the Castle is a must see. Using the funicular made it very easy. The Marionette Museum was a nice edition. The views excellent. Don't need a long visit to enjoy which is good.

Little focus on authentic castle, food & drinks have too much focus - Castle looks very nice for sure in the distance on the hill in Ljubljana. The ride with the "tram" into the Castle is a nice gimmick. The Castle itself was nice but nothing special. Several weddings were happening within the walls, the focus seems to be on restaurants and bars and not so much on the Castle. So it felt somewhat Tourist Trappy and non-authentic. There is however a very nice Michelin starred restaurant. With the audio tour they did have some focus on historic information

Castle Clash: The Medieval-Meets-Modern Mismatch - At first glance, Ljubljana Castle fascinates with its impeccable medieval aesthetics, giving visitors an authentic and evocative spectacle. However, the initial charm fades once you cross the main threshold. The internal courtyard, full of modern elements, seems to overshadow the beauty of the ancient, creating an evident visual and historical contrast. In fact, the imposing and ancient walls of the castle are in contrast with the more recent structures, generating a sense of discord that compromises the overall experience of visitors. It seems that modernization has obscured the essence and authentic atmosphere that one might expect from a place of such historical importance.

Horrible and Unsafe - AVOID AVOID AVOID BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!! Visited today and purchased a one way ticket thinking that two relatively fit people could walk down after ! NOT - the whole way down was scary, dangerous and like an ice rink First I fell, hit my head and ripped my coat and then my husband fell and hurt his back and leg (see pic) NO ONE advised when we purchased a one way ticket that we would not be able to SAFELY walk down. It took 35 minutes of falling, sliding, crying (yes it was that scary) and the worst part was you couldn’t get back up as it was even more dangerous than going down ! Actually the worst thing was when I went to ask the staff to warn others of the danger and absolute risk of falling hurting yourself SERIOUSLY - was the way it was handled. Staff laughing, saying the walkway is not their responsibilty and generally not caring at all what we had just gone through. PLEASE BE CAREFUL !!
