Thursday, September 19th, 1pm tour. - I’ll start by saying this tour totally exceeded my expectations. I bought the tickets online well in advance, and went to the city level of the funicular to check in for the tour. Our funicular ride was included in the tour price. We then toured around the free to the public areas of the castle, before our 1pm start time. The start was by the bridge by the main entrance, and info office. We were greeted by our guide Matic. He was great! He is quite personable, and was a good storyteller himself. Our tour started there and he guided us along to different stations, giving us information, or where applicable, turned over the storytelling to the actor, or actors. This is where coming in to the tour, I thought it might be a little goofy. Boy, was I wrong. The actors were great, and there portrayals were so good, and easy to understand. Nothing too heavy, just the right amount of information to keep me listening, and learning. It was great, and the time went by so fast. Bravo to everyone who interacted with our group. I would do it again.

Fun Tour of the Castle - Wonderful tour of the castle with a guide, with nice puncuating acting scences for each of the stops. Just the right amount of both, and plenty to see in the castle after the tour is done - good for families. It can be crowded at the Funicular (tram up to the castle), so recommend the walk up -- we chose to include the ride, but walked up and took the tram back. There was an impressive photo exhibit during our visit.

The best way to tour the castle - In my opinion, this is the best way to tour the castle. Our guide and the actors were fantastic. It was a creative and interesting way to showcase the history. Highly recommend.

Entertaining way to view the Castle - We weren’t sure what to expect from this tour but it was very entertaining with a touch of humour and information about the castle. Our group was small (only 10 people) and lasted just over an hour. I think without the Time Machine part, the castle was possibly a bit of a maze. Recommend arriving for the funicular at least half an hour (more in peak season) before you need to be there.

Must-see - Ljubljana Castle, which has overlooked the city from the top of the hill for 900 years, is the biggest point of interest in Ljubljana.
From the Castle Observation Tower and from the perimeter wall you can enjoy the most beautiful views of the city. The rooms of the Castle host the museum exhibition "History of Slovenia", the Puppet Museum. Several historic spaces can be seen, including the Chapel of St. George, the Penitentiary Centre and the Virtual Castle.
Numerous artistic exhibitions are organized at the Château which you can also reach by funicular.
The Château also hosts two restaurants: “Gostilna na gradu” and “Strelec”, as well as the Castle cafeteria (Grajska kavarna), a wine bar (Grajska Vinoteka & Hram Strelec) and a night club.
It is also a site of cultural events, events for the whole family, dance parties and an outdoor summer cinema called “Films Under the Stars”.

Beautiful discovery, castle, museum, view of the tower - Very nice visit to the castle, well organized, with Audio Guide in French. The ticket also included the puppet museum, as well as the Slovenian History Museum, which are inside the castle, and also the very successful 3D animation.

Experience to do - The funicular is totally glazed which allows a beautiful view of the city. Then visit the castle where we also have a beautiful panorama.

Lovely views and an enjoyable visit - Interestingly renovated, the castle is more of a multi-media centre with photo exhibitions, a theatre, lovely wine and coffee bars and all beautifully designed.
The historical element is limited to a short dungeon or tower tour with a small historical exhibition, all rather scattered about so limited flow meant it gets rather lost in the rest of the visitor noise.
The castle obviously played aninteresting role housing prisoners of war and before that local prisoners including women accused of infanticide and a deeper look at that would have been fascinating.
A sundowner on the very reasonably priced wine bar terrace probably has the best view in all Ljubljana.

Overpriced - Given the significance of this castle the self guided tour is somewhat disappointing with little to be seen other than some exhibition areas.
