Departure from Lomé to Kpalimé
Kpalime - Begin your journey from Lomé with a one and a half hour drive to Kpalimé. We’ll start our ascent by car to the village of Kebo Djigbé, located on the mountain slopes, offering a stunning view of the region. A short hike through the village will lead us to the summit of Agou. This is the perfect moment to take out your cameras and capture the scenery. You might also get the chance to interact with local residents and meet the village chief to ask questions.
The climate on Pic d’Agou is so pleasant that you’ll want to stay there all day. The journey to the summit of Mount Agou is an exciting adventure through dense forests and steep hills. Along the way, you’ll encounter a rich diversity of flora and fauna, including birds, butterflies, and, if you’re lucky, monkeys.
Centre Artisanal de Kpalimé - Next, head to the craft production center where you’ll find a variety of unique items such as batik clothing, leather goods, bracelets, wood carvings, pottery, as well as batiks and macramés made from local materials. This place also serves as a school for young people in Kpalimé, adding an educational dimension to your visit.
The Castle Viale - Continue with a brief stop to admire the surrounding landscape, then proceed on foot or by car to explore the Viale castle. This castle is particularly popular for its architecture and its location. From this elevated spot, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of Kpalimé and its surroundings, as well as the borders with Ghana. If the weather is clear, you might even see Lake Upper Volta in the distance, offering a spectacular view.

Mount Agou - Our next stop will be the small Tokpli waterfall, where you might witness the making of palm wine and its distillation into a local drink. Next, we’ll visit the Kpimé dam, which supplies electricity to Kpalimé. On the way down, we’ll have a magnificent view of Mount Agou as we pass by the Kpimé waterfall, without stopping.
Cascade de Wome - Recharge at the Womé waterfall with a refreshing swim to better continue the long road ahead. You might meet other tourists at the site and share your experiences. You’ll descend steep terrain to reach the hidden waterfall and climb back the same way after your visit.
