Highlights
  • Lion’s Point - Lion’s Point is a vantage point located midway between Bhushi Dam and Aamby valley in Lonavala. It is one of the popular viewpoints in Lonavala and also among the must visit places in Lonavala.
The view from the Lions Point is majestic and panoramic. One would see dozens of small waterfalls, lush green hills and lakes around during monsoon season. The sunrise and sunset views from here are mesmerizing. The wind is extremely strong at this place and it was quite thrilling to see many adventurous people get close to the edge to get ‘that’ living-on-the-edge photograph. The drive to the point is also equally scenic
The Shiv-ling peak is a conical peak can be seen towards the left side of Lion’s Point.

Unforgettable experience! - My husband and I had an incredible time with Sameer! He was knowledgeable about all the history at each stopping point and was able to answer all our questions. He took great care to show us the best viewing points and kept our safety in mind throughout our tour. He was such an pleasure to spend the day with. If you’re visiting the area we highly recommend booking a tour with Sameer!

A must see! - Tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, ready to answer anything even outside of the script, and had attention to detail. The sites planned were clearly the proper unique experiences to see the town

Awesome Tour!!! - This tour was a true adventure & an amazing experience I will never forget!!! The tour guide, Vikrant, was very informative about the Hindu religion & the history of the places we went. I learned so much! Through this tour I was able to see some beautiful places & sceneries. I got the chance to feed animals, see part of a wedding at a temple, see drummers march up to the caves, have a delicious vegetarian meal, go to a wax museum, and take some of the coolest photos... I couldn't have asked for anything more! I would highly recommend this tour. You will be in for a treat!!!

Amazing tour - It was an amazing day where I could experience a lot of different places in the mountains, including Lion‘s viewing point, temples and most importantly Karla Caves. The tour guide ensured that I had a great time and that I could see as much as possible in one day, also the included lunch was very delicious. I learned so much about Indian culture, food and people. Even though I was there before Monsoon season still I can highly recommend the tour!

Good option from Pune - We booked the tour relatively last minute - and on our requested date we could only get a driver without a guide, as it was also a festival on that day. Obviously, having a guide as well would have been better, but it was a good tour nevertheless and we are happy the agency was still able to offer us something! The driver's English was sufficient to agree on times, places and what we do. Some of the explanations we got from the security guards on site. Pros: Private tour, so possible to stay as long as needed in every place. We made some adjustments to points of interest (skipping Vax museum and only stopping for bathroom break at Mapro). We also did a bit more walking around Bushi dam, and in our experience the nicest part was actually from the pathway to the left, exploring beautiful lush green area (not sure why anyone would want to see the actual dam?!). We didn't walk the entire way to the waterfall as it was looking like it was going to rain (and it shortly did :) ) and I would have liked to stay a bit longer another time. Cons: As mentioned above, we decided to skip some areas. Potentially the gaps in itinerary could be filled with more sites of interest then? As we felt like it would have been nice to stay at Lion's Point event later, and we did drive to the further point as well on our request afterwards. My Indian friends told me that price for tour perhaps could be smaller, especially since there were three of us. For us it didn't make a big difference to pay per person and not per car, but if you are on a budget, you may want to consider this. Beware of: Selfie seeking tourists. Honestly, I felt like bringing a bodyguard with me, as I was being harassed by "selfie plz" requests by both men and women. It was easily 50 people who requested this and while first 10 was ok, by the 20th we started running away from them and you cannot sit in peace for a moment, as they would sit all around us, grabbing at us, requesting more and more pictures. We have seen it in other places in India, but here #selfiewithaforeigner was a whole new level. What to take with: Wet wipes to clean your feet after caves and temples. Water, drink (or plan to eat in cafes, as no food is included) Umbrella and/or rain jacket, waterproof shoes. Some of the sights are very beautiful, but then there is garbage right under your feet. So I would say no open toe shoes. For whom this is suitable: If you are working in Pune, this is a nice weekend day trip. Fitness level moderate - not wheelchair accessible, the only climb was Karla caves, but one can take it as slow, as needed.

Mixed Bag - This was a really interesting tour that started at the Karla caves. I think there was a mix up with the expectation of the tickets, as I paid for my ticket and my guide’s, despite the details indicating otherwise. It will require a reimbursement, if you are interested in getting that money back. Considering the cost was around 350 rupees, I opted not to. But again, was inconsistent with the description of the tour. We then viewed some local places in Lonavala which were interesting: a Hindi temple, wax museum (which was interesting), and then the beautiful picturesque points of Lonavala (Tiger point and Lion’s point). The views were stunning. One thing to note: my guide was knowledgeable and answered my questions about the historical figures we saw at the wax museum, and was able to give a lot of context. The only odd stop was that of Mapro, which was a local garden kind of place that produces the foods used in its goods that it sells in stores. It was ok, but felt amiss with all the other points. That being said, these small odd points did not detract from my overall enjoyment.

Good places/ bad experience - I imagined the trip would be a beautiful drive with gorgeous scenery. It turns out to be an average drive with so-so scenery. Since the monsoon hadn’t hit yet, the PCR was bone dry. We went to the Karla caves and Lohagad Fort. The fort and the caves by themselves were quite interesting. The problem is that the path to reach them was poorly maintained and littered with garbage, food wrappers and plastic bottles. The toilet facilities were absent and the one public facility at the entrance of Karla caves was simply atrocious. It’s really sad that such historical sites are being trashed by poor maintenance and uncaring local tourists.
