- Golden Hinde - This is a full-scale replica of the original Golden Hinde, the ship Sir Francis Drake sailed around the world in 1577. Queen Elizabeth, who was both Drake’s and Shakespeare’s monarch, commissioned this voyage.
- South Bank - The tour is set in the area known to Londoners as SOUTH BANK. During Shakespeare’s era, this was the “Las Vegas” of London, where activities like bull-baiting and theatre were legally permitted, unlike in the CITY of London across the Thames, where the puritanical city leaders deemed theatre as “the work of the devil.”
- Winchester Palace - The ruins are present here, and it was the Bishop of Winchester who owned all the land on South Bank at the time, including the pubs, brothels, and theatres.
- Southwark Cathedral - Both Will Shakespeare and his brother Edmond (who is buried here) would have worshipped at this cathedral. Today, it hosts a vibrant Church of England congregation and is a venue for many community concerts and events. The guide will also show the Harvard University chapel and the stunning Shakespeare stained-glass window.
- Borough Market - The guide will lead visitors into London’s renowned Borough Market, which dates back to Elizabethan times and is a place Shakespeare would have known well, as he lived in the area for many years. Today, it offers everything from gourmet coffee to organic vegetables and delicious takeaways.
