Absorbing temporary exhibitions - Now You See Us: Women Artists in Britain is an absorbing collection of great works. Wonderful to see some by Artemisia Gentileschi, including a famous Susanna and the Elders. Portraits, landscapes and even some of red-hot industry are here. Venus Attired by the Three Graces by Anne Killigrew shows a mythological scene and was painted in the late 1680s. Emily Osborn has a potent piece titled Nameless and Friendless. A campaigner for women rights, the work reflects the difficulties faced by women artists. The renowned portraitist John Singer Sargent was also honoured with an exhibition. Numerous of his beguiling depictions were marvellous to experience.

The Art of CON - A regular visitor. But what is Art these days? Art new just inside the main entrance has some truly appalling exhibits. If a smashed piano is your thing fine but a lot of the new stuff is rubbish. The display boards attempt to explain their hidden meaning!! Thank goodness Turner and Constable are still there. There are much better art displays in London.
