Highlights
  • Guildhall - This hour long walking tour in Derry will also retrace parts of the original march and visit places where the dead and wounded fell. The Bogside History Tour will examine the political and social repercussions of Bloody Sunday. The tour will pass ‘The Museum of Free Derry’ and conclude at the Bloody Sunday monument within sight of Free Derry corner and beneath the city walls of Derry.

The Bogside (Irish: Taobh an Bhogaigh) is a neighbourhood outside the city walls.. The large gable-wall murals by the Bogside Artists, Free Derry Corner and the Gasyard Féile (an annual music and arts festival held in a former gasyard) are popular tourist attractions. The area has been a focus point for many of the events of the Troubles; in 1969, a fierce three-day battle known as the Battle of the Bogside became a starting point of the Troubles.

  • Free Derry Corner - The tour will pass ‘The Museum of Free Derry’ and conclude at the Bloody Sunday monument within sight of Free Derry corner and beneath the city walls of Derry

Extraordinary tour and experience - Extraordinary tour of the bogside and murals led by Jimmy, who experienced Bloody Sunday as a young man. Personal stories were shared and gave such depth to the murals, the sights in the neighborhood, and our increased understanding of The Troubles (we are American). Highly recommend this tour!

Friendly, highly knowledgeable, passionate, funny and a wee bit irreverent!! - Paul was marvellous, friendly, passionate, highly knowledgeable as you would expect from someone directly affected by Bloody Sunday, funny, and a wee bit irreverent which we loved and expected from a Derry resident! His dedication to getting his family and all the other families' stories affected by Bloody Sunday is truly inspiring. No matter what walk of life you come from you can not be unaffected by the their long struggle for justice. Paul knows everyone on the streets he brought us to and is clearly highly thought of. It was an eye-opener for me as someone from the South of Ireland and for my husband who is from Liverpool. There were at least 6 different nationalities on the tour and such is Paul's passion that all of them were completely engaged. It was emotional and interesting hearing the victim's personal stories, seeing the murals, the streets where they were shot dead and the memorials to them. We finished the tour in The Free Derry Museum which is a must-visit. Thanks, Paul it is truly a tour we will never forget.

Stunning and highly recommended - This is outstanding. Paul provides a stunning insight into the challenges faced by the Bogside community, the injustices and the fight for an apology. You will learn a lot and may depart a little emotional. Absolutely recommended. Keep up the great work Paul!
