Great experience - Family trip, with 3 children. The train journey was great (will do a longer trip next time). Ilfracombe was lovely, would suggest going with guide to start. The pub offered a lovey lunch and it had a nice atmosphere. The guide was awesome, highly recommend.

Ripoff prices. No Thanks - $399 for a family ticket to travel 27km Longreach to Ilfracombe to see the (free of charge) mile of machinery and visit the Wellshot Pub. Includes 1 each complimentary drink (no meal). Are you serious?? $129 per adult $99 per child. Just to provide some perspective. Train Longreach to Brisbane = $285 distance 1176kms. We chose to save $400 and just drive the 20mins and enjoy the mile of machinery which is just marvellous. And we got to see a virtually empty train along the way. We really like Longreach but don’t understand why places think that an average of $400 per family of 4 is reasonable.

Waste of money. - Train trip from Longreach was nice, but you could have driven it in 20 minutes. Basically walked the main street looking at old machines tractors etc. Looked forward to lunch at the pub which supposedly was a ploughman's lunch. Was a dagwood dog 2 small hash brown's a bit of cold meat an something resembling coleslaw. What a shocker. For $129 this was disgusting. Would never recommend.
