Highlights

Longreach - You will encounter the silver bullet rail motor on the platform. With only one train at the station, it will be easy to spot!

Once on board, you’ll head to Darr River, where you’ll disembark for an exclusive Smoko and a guided Mulga walk. Afterward, you’ll reboard the train and stay on it for the rest of the journey until you return to Longreach Railway Station.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to departure for check-in. The Railway Station is located on the Landsborough Highway, opposite Anzac Park, which is next to the WaterTower. Look for a guide who wears a Savannah Guides uniform.

Who said trains are boring? - This was a great way to spend a morning. Even though there's no air conditioning in this old train, with all the windows open there was a great breeze keeping the temperature down inside. The friendliness of the staff, their knowledge and constantly cheerful interaction made the morning fun and relaxing. The morning tea was very good, with pretty good damper.

Wildlife galore - Wonderful informative trip. Saw heaps of Aussie wildlife. Darr River is amazing with beautiful morning tea with great damper again.

travelling by train - What an awesome experience to travel by train through the plains of Longreach. Our host Renee and the driver David were great very informative about the area and also the train. My son is a train fanatic so he loved but my daughter and I lso had a great time watching the countryside go by and seeings all the wildlife, including emus, wallaroo's, pigs and of course bird life, would totally recomend this tour. Darr River Rail Trip - This is a wonderful way to see another part of the Longreach area. This is a relatively new experience and our guides were Renae and David who were very informative and made the experience really fun. The Darr River where we had a wonderful "smoko", is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend doing this or any of the other rail trips that Outback Aussie Tours offer.
