Great for L.A. natives and visitors alike - I was born in Hyde Park, lived in Inglewood for the first 9 years of my life so one might be surprised to know that I had a LOT to learn about my home town. This tour was absolutely fabulous, comprehensive and fun.
I highly recommend this for LA natives and visitors alike.

A true gem, labor of love and must do tour! - Let me say (with my whole heart) fully + truly, that my tour with Janae was so intentional, informative, inspiring and powerful! My SIL(ove) and I went on the tour 12/30/24 and did not know what to expect but I was so content and full by the end! I learned so much from the tour/Janae that I can't even notate everything but some of the highlights that really stuck with me were: the story of Biddy Mason and the land she was able to purchase after being enslaved and walking (Mississippi/Utah/LA) to her freedom; where Nipsey Hussle was from and seeing his store; the first Mutual Life founded and operated by black folk; the houses of Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald + former LA mayor Tom Bradley within the Leimert Park neighborhood and then seeing the neighborhoods of Baldwin Hills, View Park, West Adams as well as Sugar Hill and learning about the forced segregation (one example the building of a freeway across from Hattie McDaniels home) and racial covenant (a term I did not know prior to the tour)! I mean this tour was so rich with black culture and wisdom and inspiration! I would recommend this tour to anyone and will state confidently that one will enjoy and/or learn something new! Janae, thank you so much for such an intentional and heartfelt tour! P.S. I was not able to get to Worldwide Tours but I pray to return and try them, as well as, get another tour!

What an amazing day! - Janae was amazing and we learnt so much during out 4 hour tour! Time literally flew past and janae's energy is unmatched. We signed up for the tour with very little knowledge of black history and south LA, and janae was always careful to draw relevance to the names mentioned so we wouldnt get lost in the sea of information! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and came out of it learning so much more about paul r williams, tom bradley and nipsey hussle. Janae was such a joy to be around, it created a very fun, relaxed learning environment for us! You may want to pack a little snack to munch on for yourselves during the trip.Thank you for such a wonderful off the beaten path tour, we cant wait to see what you'll achieve next!(:

Wonderful - I am so glad for my bday weekend I decided to do something out of the norm. L.A. has such a rich black culture past, present and future that I was unaware of. Going on this intricate detailed tour with this company embodied all of it. Her passion to do this tour shows in her research and in her excitement to share as she travels throughout L.A. explaining the different historic sites!
I will return for another tour with her!
Amazing and empowering!

Everyone should take this tour - We LOVED this tour and would recommend it to Angelinos as well as visitors. And we think it would be wonderful to have a tour in every city that explains the African American experience and history. My wife has lived her whole life in LA and I have lived here 40 years. We consider ourselves interested and fairly knowledgeable about LA’s cultural history and we still learned A LOT. Janae is passionate, knowledgeable and a great driver. Treat yourself to a fun and very interesting discovery tour.

TRULY a Great Day in South LA!!!!!!!!! - What an eye-opening experience! During a recent girls trip to LA, decided to take this tour as an early day activity. The tour far exceeded expectations and Janae made it a spectacular experience. Had a second thought about being in a van for 3 hours, but the stories told, experiences shared, and Janae's warm and hospitable personality made me forget all about that and boy did time fly by. Learning the contributions, tragedies and triumphs that occurred in just the small area explored left an impression that will never be forgotten. The enthusiasm shown has inspired me to explore similar tours in my hometown.
