Louisville Highlands Tastes & Tales Tour with Christina - My girlfriends and I went on a Sept afternoon food and history tour with Christina. It was fabulous. Christina knows Louisville history and entwines it with contemporary life. Food samples added to the cultural experience. Definitely take the tour. We've added more interesting sites to see from this tour to add to the rest of our trip.

Tastes of a wonderful historic Louisville neighborhood - What a fabulous & fun way to explore and learn about a specific neighborhood & its history while visiting some great restaurants/bars/neighborhoods and exploring Irish/German treats like Bretzels w/ Beercheese, Bangers & Mash as well as culinary staples of Louisville like a Hot Brown Pizza in Muhammed Ali’s former boxing gym, and sipping bourbon in Louisville’s oldest bar. We upgrade my husband bourbon experience and he loved every sip- as he was able to explore some new bourbons as well. So highly recommend that as well if you are into Bourbon. Allison was a fabulous, fun and very informative tour guide as well!! We truly enjoyed the time in Louisville and to see so many gorgeous and interesting homes and suburbs!! Definitely would recommend a weekend stay in Louisville.

Honestly, it was a bit of a letdown - We were so excited for this tour! But by the end, we were left thinking "reallly?" Our group was made up of 3 groups - there were 10 people total. Our guide started the afternoon off with a "everyone go around & say your name & where you're from." That's always fun! But when she got to our group, she just skipped over us. Like, literally 3 of the 10 people she just ignored & started chatting about stuff. Um, okay that was weird. From the start, she mentioned that there could be some non-alcohol options for the drink. This tour wasn't noted as a "Bourbon" tour - so even though yes we are in Bourbon country, we thought there would be other options. There aren't. And when I expressed that if the next few stops included bourbon drinks, I'd like to have the N/A option, she ignored me. I even raised my hand & waived when she mentioned lemonade - then told us 'too bad, the next place doesn't have lemonade.' All the reviews said to come hungry! I don't think I'd say that. It would be nice if the tour supplied a sample menu of both the drinks/foods - I fully understand that things change, but had we known this was basically a bourbon tour we might've just chosen a different one. Here were our food/drinks, just in case it helps anyone else: 1. Pretzel Bread + Beer Cheese. Small pour of a Bourbon Beer (4-5 oz pour) 2. Fish & Chips (1 small piece of fish) + bourbon berry lemonade cocktail - we were told that normally this is a Bangers & Mash stop, but they were out. 3. Makers Mark 46 sample (no food) 4. Hot Brown Pizza cut into squares (everyone got 2 squares in our group) 5. Pot de Creme + Old Fashioned cocktail As for a plus, the Fish & Chips were really great. I'm glad that restaurant was out of what they normally serve! So all-in-all, this tour was kinda pricey for what we got. A guide who kinda ignored us & food/drink that wasn't really what we'd hoped.
