Centered around Olmsted-designed Central Park and the charming residential enclave of St. James Court, this 40-square block historic district is jam-packed with Gilded Age grandeur and hundreds of spooky Victorian mansions. Best-selling author David Dominé loves showing off the neighborhood and sharing stories about his favorite allegedly haunted houses. Come and see what all the buzz is about!

The unique combination of striking Victorian homes and fascinating inhabitants has brought national recognition to Old Louisville, a place that was popular among bourbon magnates, racetrack elites, and tobacco tycoons in the 19th century. This guided stroll is based on the works of David Dominé, who frequently leads the groups himself. Stories shared includes personal anecdotes and local hearsay. The New York Times endorses this activity as the first to undertake in their ‘36 Hours in Louisville’ trip guide. Plus, get sneak peeks about A DARK ROOM IN GLITTER BALL CITY, David’s upcoming book slated to release in October 2021!

As experts in ‘America’s Most Haunted Neighborhood,’ our journey begins from the intersection of Fourth and Ormsby, right on the border of the neighborhood. This adventure suits lovers of ancient architecture and creepy lore! However, if you’re uncomfortable exploring an evolving neighborhood with diverse racial demographics, or can’t go comfortably for 100 minutes without a restroom stop, this experience might not suit you!

  • FYI The starting point is in a transitional area where you might encounter panhandlers, homeless people, and people who don’t look like you.
  • MUST BE ABLE TO WALK 100 MINUTES WITHOUT A BATHROOM BREAK!
  • Not recommended for visitors who cannot walk longer distances
Location
4th @ Ormsby
Start/End at the brown "FILSON HISTORICAL SOCIETY" sign, near the bus stop; this is a little over a mile directly south of the Brown Hotel downtown. (Use "1300 South Fourth Street" but DO NOT TRY TO ENTER the actual building; we meet OUTSIDE, at the corner across the street!)

First time on the Ghost Tour - Tour guide was excellent. On time, easy to understand and great storytelling. Also, kept a good walking pace but showed consideration to the capabilities of the group. Plenty of free parking. Loved hearing the history of the area and the residences.

Best Ghost Tour! - Our tour had 13 stops and such interesting stories! Our guide was audible and told the tales with enthusiasm and answered questions along the way. Highly recommend! Wear bug spray, drink lots of water before going, and be ready to walk with purpose. If someone in your group is not able to walk quickly, it seemed there was ample parking on the streets so you can likely call beforehand and get a map so you know where to catch the group.

Beautiful - The stories were great but the tour is worth it just for the scenery and old homes alone. I’ve never seen homes or a neighborhood as beautiful as this.

Amazing architecture and great ghost stories - The neighbourhood this tour takes place in has the most amazing architecture - we couldn’t believe the houses we were looking at, which are also a little bit creepy. Our guide Angelique was fabulous- knowledgeable with interesting stories.

Enjoyable walk with entertaining guide - Quinton was our guide on this tour. Even though the group was a bit large the portable sound system the guide was using made him easy to hear. It was an easy walk and at each stop that we made, the guide did a good job of giving the history of the place along with some interesting side information. I would definitely recommend this tour as it covers the St. James Court area of old Louisville.

Eerie and enlightening! - Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. She knows the area well. The detail was amazing. Our guide was right on time. She has been in the area for so long she is an expert on all the eerie things that go on there. Her stories were eerie yet some very funny. Will surely take this tour again when in Louisville. It was the perfect way to end our trip. It was also the perfect way to draw us back again. Can't wait to do this again. She also has us thinking the next time in town we should stay at one of the haunted Bed and Breakfasts. Not sure we want to share a bed with a ghost but just might have to try it. I will highly recommend this tour to friends and family. Enjoyed every second of our tour. Thank you.
