Highlights
  • The Covered Bridge - The tour starts with pick up from your hotel/accommodation in Sofia. After approximately 2 hours’ drive, we will reach Lovech. There we will start exploring the old quarter of the city. We will walk through the cobbled small streets and travel back in time, admiring the typical XIX century houses. We will pay attention to the famous Covered Bridge – a masterpiece of Bulgarian architecture, built by Master Kolio Ficheto.
  • Hisarya Fortress - We will pay attention to Vassil Levski Museum and continue our walk to The Hisarya Fortress, built during the First Bulgarian Empire (681-1018 CE). The fortress is one of the most visited landmarks in Lovech.
  • Varosha - We will have a walk in the Varosha Quarter- reserve located in the old part of the town and includes more than 160 restored houses that help create an authentic atmosphere carrying visitors back to those 19th century days. There we will have lunch in a typical Bulgarian restaurant with traditional food.
  • Devetashka Cave - We will continue our trip to our next stop- Devetashka Cave. The drive will take approx. 20 min. There we will have some time to walk around the stunning cave. Devetashka Cave is a picturesque karst cave. According to archeological research, it sheltered people since the late Paleolithic era. The cave is a protected landmark of national and international significance and has been declared a monument of culture.
  • Krushunskiye Waterfalls - Our next stop is Krushuna Waterfalls (20 min drive from Devetashka cave). This is a unique natural wonder where we can make an amazing walk through the beautiful forest and along the stream that has formed a beautiful cascade of blue waterfalls.

Brilliant experience - To start with guide Laura has made us feel so comfortable right from picking up from hotel and all the way dropping back. she is absolutely brilliant, well knowledgeable and knows her stuff. Water falls, even though not that big, gave a pleasant feel and enjoyed nice walk around that area. Caves were magnificent and worth the visit. Fort, mostly ruins, were just okay but Laura made it so interesting giving the facts of the history. Closed bridge was an interesting one, encouraging local artists ans skills.

A Great Day - I had a great time on this tour. Even the drive itself. Excellent guide and a great group to spend the day with. The cave was particularly magnificent. And I really enjoyed our conversations.

Lovech , Devetaki cave, Krushuna - I visited Lovech, devetaki cave and Krushuna waterfalls with BulTrips, and it was absolutely worth the price! Our driver, Viso, was fantastic. He shared the rich history of all the places we visited and even shared some delicious cherries with us. His sense of humor kept us entertained throughout the trip. I highly recommend this tour, especially with Viso as the driver!

Great trip, fantastic guide. - We really enjoyed this trip. Our guide, Maria was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Her English is excellent and she really gave us a taste of the true Bulgaria. Her enthusiasm for, and love of, her country was infectious. The tour itself was extremely well organised with pick up and drop off from our apartment. The trip to Lovech was 2.5 hrs with a midway break for drinks and a comfort stop. The trip was exactly as described and Maria was flexible and allowed us to guide how long we spent in each place. We would highly recommend the trip.

The tour to Devetaki, Krushana and the fortress near Lovech was OK. Our tour had a great guide. - The guide was very patient, helpful and very safety-conscience. The Devetaki cave is unusual because it has several open roof sections. The deepest section is fenced off so it was difficult to see any bats. The Krushana falls are pretty but swimming is prohibited in the falls. The town of Lovech is OK and the fortress is partially ruined. The guide provided adequate at each location.

Interesting tour, quite an adventure with pros and cons - Bultrips certainly delivered a very interesting day trip to Devetaki caves, Krushuna waterfalls and Lovech. There were only three of us on the tour which made it quite personal and allowed us to ask our guide (Veysel) lots of questions. He was extremely friendly and enthusiastic on the trip telling us everything we needed to know about the different locations. However, he did have a very very strong accent and we all often struggled to understand him even as native English speakers. I believe a non native English speaker would not understand much of what he said at all. The caves, waterfalls and lovech were all really amazing places and a must see when in Bulgaria. The tour ended up being around 12 hours and should have ideally been shorter. This is because the van we were in broke while on the way to the waterfalls and we had to wait in a service station for about an hour to get another car. This new car had lights that did not work meaning we got pulled over by the police later on in the tour to get fined which was not a very nice experience. Unfortunately the road was closed to the waterfalls due to an accident so the drive there took even longer than expected, and although I did not mind, I had to do some navigating to get us to the waterfalls on a different route as the guide was not sure where to go. I know some people would not be as happy doing this. The tour was less organised than expected, especially for the hefty price of £120/€140/$150. Two of us payed this price whereas the third payed around £50 less and I still don’t understand why that is. A highlight of the tour is definitely the flexibility. With such a small group, you can decide when and where you want to see things, stop for breaks, lunch etc. which was very nice. Overall I had a brilliant day out as it was quite an adventure, however for a well organised, smooth tour I would not recommend it.

A disappointing trip. - There was not much to be seen at all the 3 places visited and I personally felt it was a waste of a day Access in the Devetaki caves is restricted almost from the very entry. The Kurushna waterfalls, while in a lovely green setting, failed to impress. As for the tour to Lovech, apart from the covered bridge (containing mainly souvenir shops) and the large statue of Vasil Levski, the city offered very little to explore.

Long Drive - Lovech was very nice and special. But It’s a long drive so if you’re seen waterfalls and caves before, you might want to reconsider.

A rip off as a solo traveller absolutely not worth the money. - The cave was really great to visit. The waterfall was disappointing the pools made up for the disappointment. The fort was of little interest. The Covered Bridge was good to see. This trip is not worth the money as a solo traveller. You are charged double !!
