Your journey begins at 12 pm with a visit to the visitor center, which features exhibitions, a cafe, a travel shop, and restrooms. Following this, you’ll head to the Stave Church to immerse yourself in the mystique of the Middle Ages. This segment is self-guided, with an audio guide available inside the church. Your ticket is valid for the entire day.
At 1:30 pm, you’ll meet our expert guide outside the church (different from the one inside the stave church) and embark on a walk up the east side of Vindhella to the summit of the renowned hairpin bends.
Discover the history of the King’s Road and the construction of this architectural marvel that winds along high walls through the mountain pass. Learn about the road workers, the use of slave labor and their punishments, as well as the railings, stones, and kings.
