Visiting Lucca is a journey through the ages, discovering the birthplace of the composer Giacomo Puccini. It’s a voyage through history and art, from the Roman period to the Middle Ages, from the Renaissance to the nineteenth century and modern times. Lucca is enchanting in every season, with its renowned Walls adorned with trees and pedestrian areas on the inner side of the city. It’s an ideal place for a leisurely walk or a bike ride.
- Leaning Tower of Pisa - Following your visit to Lucca, our next stop will be in Pisa. Here, you’ll have ample time to marvel at and capture photographs of the renowned “Leaning Tower,” along with other significant monuments in the square, including the Baptistery and the Cathedral.
The Leaning Tower, a captivating architectural wonder, began its tilt during construction in the 12th century due to the soft ground that couldn’t adequately support the structure’s weight. The inclination further progressed through the completion of construction in the 14th century. Notably, the structure underwent stabilization through remedial work between 1993 and 2001, successfully reducing the tilt to 3.97 degrees. It stands as a testament to both engineering marvel and historical resilience.
- Parco Regionale delle Alpi Apuane - After your time in Pisa, the journey continues as we drive through the A11/A12 highway, bridging Tuscany and Liguria for approximately 1 hour. This scenic route will take us close to the stunning Apuan Alps, also known as the Marble Mountains. As we pass through the city of La Spezia, you’ll have the opportunity to admire its famous Gulf, often referred to as the Gulf of Poets.
The final leg of the journey will bring us to your destination in Cinque Terre, where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of this picturesque coastal region. Enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and the unique charm of the five enchanting villages that make up Cinque Terre.
