Highlights

Start your journey at 7:45am with your friendly and professional guide. Enjoy a 40-minute train ride through scenic farmland, which brings you to the historic resort town of Engelberg (Angel Mountain). Hop on a bus to the end of the valley. Now board a cable car for a breathtaking ascent up to 1™850 m/6™070 ft and into the midst of snow-capped peaks and glaciers towering a further 1™000m/3™000 ft above you.

Start your hike on a circular trail with a vista point offering the best view over the valley and the north face of Mt Titlis, the highest mountain peak in the area(40 mins). Continue hiking on the plateau trail overlooking the valley with views to the surrounding high mountain peaks. As the path narrows you start descending to Abnet. Depending on fitness levels, interest and ability, either take a rustic cable car ride down to the lunch stop, or continue on foot.

Continuing on foot, pass the thundering Stauber waterfall and hear the intriguing legend of why Canton Uri has a bull’s head on its cantonal flag. Hike further into the valley through green pastures and hear the rush of mountain streams and clanking of cow bells. Enjoy a 1-hour lunch at Staefeli at a traditional alpine farm inn that offers homemade specialties (Tip - bring cash not credit cards).

After lunch, gently descend on a 1½ hour hike along a path into the tree line and then through forest with a glacier stream keeping you company until you reach the cable car station again. The local bus returns you to Engelberg (last departure at 5pm) with time left to check out the show cheese-maker in the old monastery buildings or wander through the pretty village before taking the train back to Lucerne (5pm - 6pm).

Hiking in the Alps with lots of cows LOL - My experience with Echo Trails was nothing less than perfect. My first communication was responded to by one of the company leaders who assisted me in reserving two different days of hiking and assisted me in paying for the reservation. Two days prior to the hikes the guide reached out via What's App providing their contact info and advising me that they would meet us at the Lucern train station at 7 AM. On the Heart of The Alps hike our guide was Amalia Macula. She met us and we boarded the first of the two trains to reach our destination. She was joined by a new guide for the company who was observing her for the day. His name was Arno Claerhout. Both were wonderful young people and are excellent guides. The hike was not easy and we worked up quite a sweat. We are experienced hikers and this was just what we were looking for. The views of the Alpine meadows and the snow and the glacier on the mountain tops were spectacular. We had a wonderful lunch in the rest at the top. We hosted Amalia and Arno for lunch and enjoyed our time with them very much. On the way down we walked to the 12th century monastery where they have a cheese shop for cheese made by the Monks. A very nice treat. Echo Trails is the real deal. Book with them for an adventure you will talk about for years.

Best day in Lucerne with Livia! - This was absolutely one of our favorite tours we’ve ever done! Livia was an EXCELLENT hiking guide! She made it her goal to ask us questions to get to know us and make the hike personalized for us! We took the longer route and it was absolutely beautiful and such a fulfilling & relaxing day! We only had 2 full days in Lucerne and this was the PERFECT way to spend one of them! If we ever get to come back we would do it again and request Livia! Do this hike! You won’t regret it!

Beautiful hike with Livia, the best guide ever! - This was an amazing day with incredible views and experiences. Even though it was rainy we decided to give it a go. Livia, our guide was so up beat about the weather promising it would be amazing anyway. And the weather cleared up and the sun came out for some amazing views. Livia was so accommodating with our daughter who has a sports injury - always making sure she was doing well. Livia also let us stop along the way for some wonderful family and individual photos. She told us all about the region and was very knowledgeable and personable. On the train ride home she gave us tips on the public transportation to help us plan out the next day. She did everything she could to make sure our day was wonderful. I’ve done many tours like this in many places and Livia was the best guide I’ve ever had. It was a tiring and satisfying day. Thanks for the memories!

Captivating hike through the Alps - Ezra was an amazing guide through the vastness of the Alps! He met us at the Lucerne train station and kept us engaged from the moment we got picked up until the end of our time together. Ezra was super knowledgable and in sync with his surroundings, adding a whole new layer of depth to our hike. I so appreciated his attention to detail and commitment to making our hike amazing! Swiss Alps - We had a great time on this hike with John, our guide. He was very knowledgeable about the area, and answered all of our questions. I would highly recommend this hike, and would rate it an easy hike but definitely wear hiking boots as some of the trails are rocky.

Spectacular Views - Our private tour of the Alps was an incredible experience! Our guide, Livia, met us at the train station and led us on an excellent adventure tailored to our wishes. After a train ride and short bus ride, we ascended a mountain on a cable car. We hiked along trails, visited a cheese making farm and ate an authentic Swiss lunch surrounded by mountains. The scenery was unbelievable, from snow capped mountains to beautiful waterfalls. Livia was very accommodating and friendly, making our tour even more enjoyable!
