Additional Information

Lucerne, arguably Switzerland’s most renowned city, is nestled among mountains and at the terminus of Lake Lucerne, making it a hotspot for numerous adventures and excursions. The city’s panorama is marked by the roofed, medieval Chapel Bridge, adorned with attic paintings and regarded as one of Europe’s oldest surviving wooden bridges. The city’s other prominent feature is the Musegg Wall, almost entirely conserved in its original fortified state except for a single tower.

Historic structures showcasing frescoes are a common sight along the charming squares of the car-free old town, including the Weinmarkt. Lucerne manifests a rich heritage of squares and churches. The Jesuit Church, constructed in the 17th century, is believed to be Switzerland’s inaugural sacred baroque establishment. The two pillars of the Hofkirche are an indelible part of the city vista. The lion monument, a tribute carved in stone to honor the gallant Swiss who gave up their lives at the Tuileries in 1792, is among Switzerland’s most iconic landmarks.

Nice personal tour. - Martin was our guide and was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was great getting a view of the city from a local perspective. He was able to explain what we saw and give us the history and cultural background. Really enjoyed our time with him.

Beautiful Lucerne - Our tour guide was so great. He did a great job. Our only criticism is not about him, but the "cruise on Lake Lucerne" is not what I would consider a cruise of the lake at all. It was a ferry ride to drop other patrons off at another stop and then came back. That is not a "touristy cruise" - it was just tagging along on a passenger drop off.

old town Luzern - must see - Travelled with friends and booked this tour to be with them in the same group. Lucky us, we have been just four of us on this tour - very comfy. Nice walk-around in the city with time to step into shops - not this typical tour where you rush around. Tourguide took us to a lake boat shuttle which was a nice finish for this tour.

Great - a tour withouth headphones! - We visited Lucerne again and it was a perfect tour about the time & distance. We got the overview about the historic city and we're happy that it was a small group tour without using headphones and just walk in a line. We were just 6 on this tour and it was easy to have a personal exchange with the funny tourguide.

Not worth the money$$$! - Tour director needs a microphone and audio should be provided- difficult to hear. We skipped the walking tour and only did the boat cruise at the end which we would not recommend- not enough outdoor platforms. Abraham was knowledge . Also website said 2 hr tour but told more like 4hrs.

Definitely not worth the money! - Our guide was not local, but arrived by train from Zurich. We walked around the city with one other couple. Our guide knew when the churches were built/burned down/rebuilt, but not much else. We learned about the Lion of Lucerne, grabbed a sandwich. Because we waited in the shade for the boat trip, we missed the chance for seats with a good view. A total waste of $200!
