Mt. Pilatus, positioned near Luzern, offers a singular and unforgettable panoramic scene with its 73 Alpine peaks and myriad lakes. The iconic Golden Round Trip (mostly executed from June to October) proposes a captivating outing: initially starting on Lake Lucerne aboard a lake boat, heading to Alpnachstad. From this point, one rides the steepest cogwheel train globally to ascend Mt. Pilatus. The journey back involves a picturesque aerial ropeway journey through Kriens and then a local bus ride towards Luzern.
Both families and thrill-seekers are heartily invited to explore the Pilatus. The Fräkmüntegg hosts Central Switzerland’s biggest rope park. Mt. Pilatus is peppered with numerous exciting spots to visit. Alternately, you can chill at the spacious observatory terrace.
During the period from November to May, the cogwheel railway and regular lake boat are off-duty. Over this duration, one can access Mt. Pilatus using the cableway. During this time, a scenic one-hour lake tour of Luzern is also an option.
