- Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market - Khlong Lat Mayom is one of the three floating markets located close to Bangkok, no more than twenty kilometres from town and accessible by taxi from Wongwian Yai (the last BTS station on the Silom Line). Khlong Lat Mayom is nothing like the huge touristy Damnoen Saduak or the crowded Amphawa but really has the charm and authenticity of a local market and you might be one of the only foreigners around
- Taling Chan Floating Market - Located just outside of Bangkok on the access road to Khlong Bangkok Noi, Taling Chan looks like any other fresh food market busy with produce vendors from nearby farms. But the twist emerges at the canal where several floating docks serve as informal dining rooms and the kitchens are boats tethered to the docks.

Floating markets hold a special place in everyone’s hearts, locals and tourists alike. The influx of locals during the weekends is a testament to its popularity. In Thailand, the local market culture is deeply engrained into daily life and dining out is more of a routine than a special occasion, unlike in western societies.
The culinary experience is invariably the main draw of any floating market visit; sitting on quaint wooden stools barely 10 cm off the ground and placing your food orders to the small wooden boats moored alongside your table adds an uniquely engaging and exotic touch to your dining experience!
Don’t hesitate to try out food items that you are unfamiliar with. If you are unsure of what to order, simply copy what your fellow diner has on their plate: noodle soups, Pad Thai, Kanom Jeen (cold rice vermicellis), or the Hoi Tod (oyster omelet), each priced between 20 to 30 baht per serving.
