Khor Virap - This is the site where Grigor Luisavorich (St. Gregory the Illuminator) was held captive for 13 years before healing King Trdat III of an illness, leading to the adoption of Christianity in Armenia in 301 AD. The name Khor Virap translates to “deep pit,” referring to the prison where St. Gregory was confined.
