Fun Windy Day - Very nice laid back experience, the day was windy but amazing views, the cold crisp of northern air and the guide was excellent!

Enjoyed the Boundary Waters - Lots of fun, this was my friend and I‘s first trip to the boundary waters and it made the boundary waters feel less daunting. Mark was a great guide. Only disappointments was the amount of people, we were hoping for a more quiet secluded trip, but our entry point was very busy and because of that we weren’t able to check out any camp sites along the lake shores because they were full of people. But it was enjoyable still, mark was a good teacher with the canoe paddling technique. He picks you up at the meeting point in a van and drives you to the entry point. It is a long drive on state forest dirt roads so know that. Sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, water, and snacks/light lunch are all recommended since it’s a long day with about 4 hours on the water and we had horseflies chasing us. Also tissues if you need to use the bathroom outdoors. We met at 8 am and were back to our car at 3pm. Feel confident now we could do it on our own.

Great introduction to the BCWA - Really great experience. Logistics were clear and easy, guide was knowledgeable and it was a pleasure to spend the day on the water with him.

Beauty, Peace, & Quiet; eventually, a little boring - It was a great trip & Jacob was a knowledgeable & personable guide. It was about an hour too long for our family; The drive was about 45 minutes each way & the trip was as advertised, 9am-4pm. 5 hours of paddling is a lot for inexperienced people (who are more likely to have a guide instead of just renting from an outfitter).

Excellent day outing - Excellent guide Jacob was good at reading needs of his group, took us to Homer Lake, we portaged to Axe lake on the BWCA and back. Taught us how to easily lift canoe for portage, how to safely put it down, enter and exit the canoe with several opportunities to practice all of the above, as well as paddle handling and strokes. Good explanations of flaura and fauna he had equally sure it is attention with all group members. He taught us some of the rules of the road, campsites, fires, gathering wood, considering campsites. It was a good day outing, as well as a primer for a future boundary waters camping trip. Highly recommended and I would do it again

Good experience - Guide was super helpful and friendly we got caught up in some pretty rough wind but he helped us through and we had a really good time. A great way to see the deeper parts of the state.

AVOID ~ They canceled my trip less than 24 hours before departure... - longlegged longlegged 15 contributions 0 AVOID ~ they canceled my trip w/ less than 24 hours notice. Sep 2024 • Solo Scheduled a day trip. Reconfirmed directly because I wanted to make sure of the location of the meeting place. Made a reservation for two nights at a local hotel. Drove to Lutsen, checked into the hotel the day before the trip. Trip was canceled by Boundary Waters Day Trips. Less than 24 hours before the trip they canceled. For anything less than a medical emergency, there is just no excuse for this. My hotel will not allow me to cancel the second night, so I am out $452 and change. And two days of my vacation in northern Minnesota. Ironically, I just spent a few days in Ely, MN, scouting outfitters for a multiple night trip with friends for next year. Someone recommended stopping here for time with this company. Wow! Some seriously bad advice. What a waste. Avoid.
