- Luxembourg City - Our walk continues along the Adolf Bridge, a masterpiece of European architecture. The Adolf Bridge (French: Pont Adolphe) (German: Adolphe-Brücke) is a stone arch bridge in Luxembourg City. It carries road traffic over the Pétrusse River, linking Boulevard Royal in Ville Haute with Avenue de la Liberté in Gare, Luxembourg. The bridge is 17.2 meters wide, featuring 4 lanes—3 towards Gare and a bus lane to Villa Haute—and two sidewalks for pedestrians.
- Gelle Fra - We will admire the majestic Statue of Liberty of Luxembourg and its intriguing history. The Monument of Remembrance (French: Monument du souvenir; nicknamed Gëlle Fra, meaning “Golden Lady” in Luxembourgish) is a war memorial in Luxembourg City, southern Luxembourg. It honors the thousands of Luxembourgers who volunteered for the Allied forces during World War I. The Gëlle Fra is situated on the Place de la Constitution in the Ville Haute area of central Luxembourg City. The monument’s centerpiece is a 21-meter-high granite obelisk.
- Cathedrale Notre-Dame - At Cathédrale Notre-Dame in Luxembourg City, we will marvel at its grand beauty and architecture. The Cathedral of Saint Mary, also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady, is a Luxembourgish Catholic cathedral and the main church of the Archdiocese of Luxembourg. Its foundation stone was laid in 1613, and it was initially a Jesuit church.
- Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg - We will appreciate its architecture. The European Parliament’s presence in Kirchberg, Luxembourg, currently includes the Parliament’s secretariat, although plenary sessions were held in the city for a brief period.

The Grand Ducal Palace (Luxembourgish: Groussherzogleche Palais; French: Palais grand-ducal; German: Großherzogliches Palais) is located in Luxembourg City, southern Luxembourg. - Saint Michel’s Church - We will observe its architecture. The Church of Saint Michael (Luxembourgish: Méchelskierch; French: Église Saint-Michel; German: Sankt Michaelskirche) is a Roman Catholic church in Luxembourg City, southern Luxembourg. It is situated on the Fishmarket in the central Ville Haute district. The church is the oldest existing religious site in Luxembourg City. The first church on this site was built in 987 as the castle chapel by the Count of Luxembourg. Over the centuries, the building has been destroyed, rebuilt, and renovated multiple times. Its current appearance, dating from 1688, combines Romanesque and Baroque architectural styles, predating the national Moselle Baroque style.
- Casemates du Bock - We will explore its layout and history. The Bock (Luxembourgish: Bockfiels) is a promontory at the north-east edge of Luxembourg’s old town. Its rocky cliffs, forming a natural fortification, rise above the Alzette River, which surrounds it on three sides. Count Siegfried built his castle, Lucilinburhuc, here in 963, laying the foundation for Luxembourg City. Over the centuries, the Bock and its defenses were reinforced, attacked, and rebuilt repeatedly by the Burgundians, Habsburgs, Spanish, Prussians, and French, vying for control of one of Europe’s most strategic fortresses. The conflict ceased with the Treaty of London in 1867.
- Castle Playground - Lucilinburhuc Castle, Luxembourg’s first castle, offers a blend of history and architecture. The Parc des Trois Glands, in the Kirchberg business district, extends behind the Philharmonie, the Mudam Museum of Modern Art, and Fort Thüngen. Redesigned by landscape architect Michel Desvigne, the park provides panoramic views of the old town, merging modernity and history, valley and plateau, and the scale of a medieval town with a metropolis of high-rise buildings.
- Le Chemin de la Corniche - Known for its history and legends, this tourist attraction is a boardwalk atop Luxembourg, offering spectacular city views. It is quite long and accessible only on foot, free of charge. Along this route are the casemates, another city attraction.
- Parc des Trois Glands - We will observe the architecture of the three towers. The Parc des Trois Glands, in Kirchberg’s financial district, stretches behind the Philharmonie, the Mudam Museum of Modern Art, and Fort Thüngen. The Alzette River (Luxembourgish: Uelzecht; German: Alzig) is a 73-kilometer-long river flowing through France and Luxembourg, eventually joining the Sauer River. It originates in Thil, near Villerupt, in France’s Meurthe-et-Moselle department, and passes through Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg City, and Mersch in Luxembourg.
- Wallendorf Pont - We will see the GRAND DUCHESS CHARLOTTE BRIDGE, also known as the RED BRIDGE. The Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge (Luxembourgish: Groussherzogin-Charlotte-Bréck; French: Pont Grande-Duchesse Charlotte; German: Großherzogin-Charlotte-Brücke) is a road bridge in Luxembourg City, southern Luxembourg. It spans the N51 of the Alzette, connecting John Fitzgerald Kennedy Avenue in Kirchberg with Robert Schuman Boulevard in Limpertsberg. The bridge, known as the Red Bridge due to its distinctive red paint, was constructed between 1962 and 1965 and inaugurated on October 24, 1966.

Kirchberg (Luxembourgish: Kierchbierg, pronounced [ˈkiːɐ̯ɕbiəɕ]; meaning ‘church hill’) is a neighborhood in the north-east of Luxembourg City, southern Luxembourg. It is a plateau overlooking the north-east of the historic center, Ville Haute, connected to the rest of the elevated city by the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge, spanning the Pfaffenthal valley. Luxembourgers often refer to it as the Kirchberg Plateau. Kirchberg is the main location for European Union institutions and bodies based in Luxembourg and is sometimes used as a metonym for the EU judiciary, which occupies the neighborhood. It is the central business district of Luxembourg.
- Place d’Armes - We will explore the architecture. The Place d’Armes is a square in Luxembourg City, southern Luxembourg. Located in the old city’s center, it attracts many residents and visitors, especially in summer. Originally, it served as a parade ground for the city’s defending troops.
- Place de la Constitution - We will enjoy a panoramic view, history, and architecture. This urban square features a monumental obelisk honoring World War II soldiers, freedom, and resistance. The Place de la Constitution is a strategic point for visitors to Luxembourg City, built on the former Beck bastion. This landscaped area in the upper town houses one of the country’s most iconic sculptures: the Gëlle Fra (“Golden Woman” in Luxembourgish). It is a monument to the thousands of Luxembourgers who volunteered for the Allied forces during World War I. The centerpiece is a 21-meter-high obelisk topped with a gilded bronze statue of a woman holding a laurel wreath.
- Place Clairefontaine - We will explore the architecture and history. The square offers excellent views of the Adolf Bridge, connecting the two banks of the Pétrusse River. It is a must-see for visitors to the Pétrusse Casemates, a 23 km-long defensive tunnel network started by the Spanish in the 17th century and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. These military-use galleries connected various strategic points of the fortress protecting the old city. Today, only a small part of the network is accessible, which also served as an air raid shelter during World War II. Other notable sites, such as Notre Dame Cathedral, Guillaume II and Clairefontaine squares, and the Casino de Luxembourg or Lëtzebuerg museums, are just a few meters away.

The meeting point is at Place de Metz, to begin our tour of the historic center of Luxembourg. Thus, first of all, we will approach the history of the city and the country, one of the richest in the world.
Next, we will move to Place de Guillaume II, the anteroom of the Grand Ducal Palace. It will be there where we will discover why Luxembourg is the only sovereign grand duchy today.
Later, we will visit the main points of attraction of the place and the Church of St. Michael. In addition, we will climb to the top of the Corniche Path, where we will enjoy the best panoramic view of Luxembourg. The tour will continue through the Judicial City.

We start at Place de Metz. The best way to get to the meeting point is by Luxembourg tram, which is also free and will drop you off directly at the Place de Metz stop. The meeting point is close to the Adolf Bridge. Our guide will be with Red Umbrella.
