Long and exhausting but absolutely worth it! - Our trip to Luxor began at 3 AM with a private car transfer from our hotel. Since our hotel was located far south of Marsa Alam, the driver picked us up an hour earlier than usual, at no extra cost, to give us more time at our destination. The driver was professional and friendly, spoke English, and immediately made us feel comfortable. During the first part of the journey, we slept, but as the sun rose, we enjoyed the drive through the desert, even taking an extra stop at a scenic spot for some photos.
The journey to Luxor is long—about 7 hours to get there and 6 hours to return due to traffic. For safety reasons, drivers must pass through Safaga and Qena, crossing several police checkpoints. This is a mandatory requirement for all tourist trips, implemented to ensure visitors' safety. Stops are limited to designated tourist rest areas, which can feel restrictive but are understandable.
The most captivating part of the trip was driving through the villages along the Nile between Qena and Luxor. We witnessed everyday life: workers in sugarcane fields on donkeyback, children heading to school, and authentic scenes untouched by mass tourism. For us, this was one of the most moving parts of the trip, offering a genuine glimpse into the daily lives of these regions.
In Luxor, we were greeted by an expert Egyptologist guide. Our first stop was the Valley of the Kings, where we were given detailed explanations about the most fascinating tombs to visit. Unfortunately, time was limited—just the tombs alone would require a full day to explore. Guides are not allowed inside the tombs, so explanations are provided beforehand, supported by images. Despite this, the experience was incredible, and the tombs are true historical masterpieces.
Next, we visited the Temple of Hatshepsut, which we found less engaging as much of it has been reconstructed. We opted to skip photos at the Colossi of Memnon to have more time at the Karnak Temple—majestic, vast, and rich in history. Time was again insufficient to fully explore it, but the guide’s explanations and the free time for photos struck a good balance.
The included lunch was a delightful surprise. Despite our initial skepticism about a potential "tourist trap," the food was genuine and delicious. We enjoyed a vegetable soup served in clay pots, beef and chicken stews, and exceptional fresh bread. It was one of the best meals of our vacation!
The excursion was beautiful, intense, and emotionally rewarding. However, it is quite demanding due to the long journey and limited time to visit everything. As a result, some historical explanations felt rushed, although our guide was clearly very knowledgeable and would have happily given more detailed insights if we had had more time. We recommend planning this trip over two days if possible, to fully appreciate all that Luxor has to offer.
At a cost of approximately €105 per person, including transportation, guide, and lunch, this excursion offers excellent value for money. Highly recommended, especially for those seeking a unique and authentic experience in Egypt.

Unforgettable!!! - A wonderful day! Perfect organization of every single detail. The city of Luxor is full of cultural and natural beauty. Immerse yourself in Egyptian antiquity in the Temple of Karnak and Luxor Temple in the Valley of the King with the beautiful voice of our Egyptologist guide Hany, very good, nice , who filled us with history.Visit the papyrus factory , have typical lunch in a nice riverside restaurant, cross the Nile with the typical boat and touch handicrafts in the Alabaster factory. All great!!! And last but not least the beautiful company of our small group and our very good and nice guide in Italian Ibra. Unforgettable!

Our driver Mahmood picked us up at our hotel and brought us to Luxor and back swiftly and safely
Osmi did the local driving around Luxor efficiently.
Our guide Mohamed Awad did a great job showing the temple of Karnak, the Valley of Kings and the temple of Hatshepsut. He pointed out key highlights, shared his knowledge of ancient Egyptian religion and culture and translated key hieroglyphs for us. He really made the sites come to life for us.
Highly recommended.

Great experience - We had a great time on our day trip to Luxor. We got picked up in time by our driver Hussain who was really attentive and made sure we were comfortable during the trip. Once we arrived in Luxor we met up with our guide Sayed Gamal. He was really knowledgeable about all the history and the sights that we visited, he gave us his personal suggestions on what to see in the valley of the kings, which was great. He made sure we had all the time we needed. Half way through the trip we stopped for tasty local lunch. Overall we had a great time and thanks to the drivers and guide for making it a great excursion. 100% recommendable
