Mixed feeling- honest review with detailed itinerary - Mixed feelings about this trip. We loved the hot air balloons, Valley of The Kings, the temples were amazing and the sunset boat trip. The hotel we stayed in was beautiful and the staff were so friendly! For what you pay you get a lot for your money.
The down sides: very poorly organised, a lot of waiting around not knowing what’s going snd with no communication and clarification from anyone. Also, If you have Khaled Galal, I suggest you refuse to have him and demand to have someone else. He portrays, himself as caring very much for you. That you will have the best time and that he will go out of his way for you. This is not true at all, he is very sly and not to be trusted. He harasses you to go to his friends shops to buy things, perfume , t-shirts, jewellery ect He tells you not to tell the driver as he isn’t suppose to take you to these places, he says the drivers are spy’s for the company and will report him. That’s okay, as I will report him myself! He doesn’t take no for an answer , we are a mum and daughter on our own and he made us feel like we had to buy things, I felt forced into buying over priced jewellery, but for all the rest of the shopsI put my foot down and refused to go , I am disabled, use crutches to walk, and this trip was a lot for me to cope with, without him trying to force us to go to places we didn’t want to go. At times he would try to rush us, and then he would stand around chatting to his friends and kept leaving us just waiting around for him. We paid for him to be our guide, not make us go to shops we don’t want to go to and we weren’t paying him to hang out with his friends! He told us that after the hot air balloon it would be a waste of our time to go back to go back to the hotel for breakfast and he would meet us at the hot air balloon and take us straight to valley of the kings before it got busy, that he was going out of his way for us by doing this. He told us to order a breakfast box and take all our luggage to the hot air balloon. He lied!! He didn’t meet us there, the organisation to get us back to the hotel was an absolute nightmare, we had to keep getting off one bus and on to another, our trip back took so long that by the time we got to the hotel, most of the others had had a lovely breakfast and left for Valley of the kings, it was also very hard for us taking all our luggage into the hot air balloon. Khaled was waiting for us at the hotel and tried to make us get straight in the car to drive all the way back to near where we had been. I told him the journey back was ridiculous and I will stop for coffee, he sat with us as if to rush us, so I ordered an omelette and said as we are here we may as well have the breakfast we had paid for! So he walked off and left us. When we were finished and we’re ready to leave, he left us sat outside waiting whilst he chatted to his friend! I really wish we’d had a different guide as we would have made the trip so much better. Even my 13 year old said she didn’t trust him and thought he was sly. She said he was also very touchy with her, something I didn’t even see, so he must of been extremely sly doing it when I wasn’t looking. It was so bad that after Valley of the Kings I told him I didn’t want to do the rest of the trip, the boudin tent, lunch, camel ride ect. That I was in so much pain that I needed to go straight back to my hotel in Hurghada. He said it’s no problem, that he would leave us and go home and we can go straight to the hotel which will only take 2&1/2 hours without stops. So we said good bye at the car and I didn’t want to tip him, but I did. He was obviously mad about the amount I tipped, I said it’s all I have left after having to paying all the entrance fees, having to tip absolutely everyone, having to buy things we didn’t want, but felt bullied into buying, having to pay to use all the toilets for two days. Anyway, he had said he would leave us, but to get back at me for not tipping him what he felt entitled to, he got in the car!! He said don’t worry it is only 2 minutes” basically we drove him all the way home, it was about 45 minutes each way, in the opposite direction to what we needed to go. I am extremely unhappy about this and will report him to the company. I asked to leave at 10:09am and didn’t get back to our hotel until
about 3pm I think! When we should have got back around 1pm! He was also trying to get us to buy trips directly from him, I don’t think he should be doing that.
The meals provided on the trip, although at different restaurants, was exactly the same meal each time. It was tasty, but no one wants to eat the same food for lunch and dinner for 2 days.
The positives. The Temples, the roof top restaurants. The sun rise in a hot air balloon, the sunset on a boat on the river Nile, the Temple hotel
The first day you are picked up at 5am, driven to Luxor, with a stop for the toilet, be prepared to pay for the toilet and harnessed to buy from the market there.
First stop is the Temples, which were amazing. the guide was very informative. You are then taken to a restaurant for lunch, you get an orzo soup, rice, vegetables in a tomato sauce, salad, and you can choose from lotta, chicken or beef. After this you are taken to the hotel, we were lucky enough to get The Temple hotel, which is beautiful and the staff are lovely, so friendly and helpful, they can’t do enough for you! There is a roof top terrace, with seating, bar and pool. The views are beautiful.
You are then picked up for the sunset boat ride. Our first boat was a very strange experience. We hardly left the harbour and we were not out long enough to even see the sunset. This is advertised as a sunset boat ride in the Nile, we didn’t get a ride on the Nile, just hung around the harbour, and we were brought back before the sun even set. Everyone else looked confused and dissatisfied, and were moaning but didn’t challenge anyone about it. When we got off the man who appeared to be in charge asked us if we enjoyed, so I told him truthfully , it was not what we paid for. He swiftly showed us to another boat which was just leaving and this as much better,we sailed slightly out in the Nile, saw the sunset, dank Egyptian tea. It was beautiful.
Nor this is where things get weird, you are picked up for dinner and driven to a cafe. This cafe is owned by Nice Tours and what appear to be managers meet and get you, you can order a drink either from the free or paid list. And then you just sit there, no one tells you what is going on, everyone looked confused, we were expecting dinner there, as we were picked up to go to dinner. Then the managers bring you a massive gift bag with a letting for a gift, they then proceed to harass you for you to write a review on trip advisor, there snd then. I refused as we were only half way through the trip, I already knew I wanted to leave a review after the trip, in my own time. We then continued to just sit there, while the managers Errrr sat at a table near us on their phones. Everyone started asking eachother if they knew what the plan wass, no one had been told. So the communication needs to improve! I got fed up of waiting, we could of sat there for hours not knowing what’s going to happen, it was getting late and we had to be up at 3:30am for our 4:20 pick up for the hot air balloons . So I asked the mangers what the plan is, they said you can sit and relax and enjoy your drink until you are ready to be taken for dinner, so I told all the others and got up to leave. They then asked to take our photos holding a Nice Day Tours banner and then a video of us thanking them. A very strange experience, if I’d not said anything, we could have been left sat there all night with no dinner. We were then taken to another roof top restaurant for dinner, which was exactly the same as lunch. We didn’t stay long until I told my driver I wanted to leave. First I asked for the toilet and I was chased by the waiter to pay fit our drinks, as if I’m going to jump out of the window of a roof top toilet to avoid paying pennies for a cola lol we had a good night sleep, but as explained above, we were told to take all our luggage, a breakfast box and sign out of the hotel. We were not given a pick il time and my WhatsApp message was ignored. We were told 4:25 for the hottie balloon, so assumed a 4am pick up. We were not picked up until 4:40’ish the trip was advertised as a privet driver for the entire two days, but for this we had to share a car, instead of taking people who were in our hotel, we had to drive to another hotel to pick them up. It was very cramped. We were driven to the boats we had been on the night before snd I panicked I had been picked up by the wrong car, I thought maybe these people were doing a sunrise boat trip. There was just no communication. I had to keep questioning people all the time and as someone who struggles socially and suffers with anxiety , it really did keep taking me out of my comfort box! Anyway it was finally explained that the body would take us over the other side of The Nile to the hotair balloons. We were the first car lot of people to turn up and the first to board a boat, we sat waiting v fur ages while all the other boats slowly filled, then we sat there and watched them all leave and go to the other side , about 8-10 boats, they all got off and went off in noses, while we just sat there with no one telling us anything, it was crazy! I assume we were waiting for someone who was late, but no one answered me questioning what was going on, they just said we have to wait.
We finally left and at the other side got on a mini bus. We finally got to the field room the balloon and my gosh the organisation was none existent, we were ushered back and forth constantly, told to come stand here then told to come back. There was so much confusion about who was going where, also using the toilet costs you money. I would t mind if all the toilets we used and had to pay for were clean and with toilet paper, but they are so grotty! Anyway once the balloons started to be fired up it literally took my breath away! It was so beautiful and made me feel so emotional! So many balloons go up together and fill the sky, it truly is an unforgettable experience and definitely worth going through all the hassles to get this experience. After the balloon ride as explain Khaled did not meet us like he promised to, and the journey back was a nightmare. Instead of putting us in mini buses with people from the same hotel, we were put with ones from hotels , we kept stopping and being swapped to different mini buses, we stood around waiting for ages, no communication at all. We kept having to drop people at different hit ed ls,we were the last ones back to our hotel, it complrtrr er my killed the buzz from the hits it balloon. And I’ve already explained the rest, that in the end we had enough of our guide and gave up the chance to complete the trip as we just wanted. to leave.
At least I’ve given you an inside as to what to expect. Please do question and challenge whilst in your trip. Otherwise you will be left clueless as to what is going on and if you are not happy with something, tell them. And of corse, refused to have Khaled as he will ruin the trip for you. I still rate this trip, the good out weighs the bad. But the company should be better organised and improve their communication. They do this trip every single day for hundreds of people so you would think they would be better organised by now. Anyway, I hope this helps to improve your trip and I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed the good parts :):) I definitely recommend booking it Dispite all the downsides
