Temple of Karnak - The Karnak Temple Complex, commonly known as Karnak from Arabic Khurnak meaning “fortified village”), comprises a vast mix of decayed temples, chapels, pylons, and other buildings near Luxor, in Egypt. Construction at the complex began during the reign of Senusret I in the Middle Kingdom and continued into the Ptolemaic period, although most of the extant buildings date from the New Kingdom. The area around Karnak was the ancient Egyptian Ipet-isut (“The Most Selected of Places”) and the main place of worship of the eighteenth dynasty Theban Triad with the god Amun as its head. It is part of the monumental city of Thebes. The Karnak complex gives its name to the nearby, and partly surrounded, modern village of El-Karnak, 2.5 kilometres (1.6 miles) north of Luxor.

Luxor Temple - Luxor Temple is a large Ancient Egyptian temple complex located on the east bank of the Nile River in the city today known as Luxor (ancient Thebes) and was constructed approximately 1400 BCE. In the Egyptian language it is known as ipet resyt, “the southern sanctuary”. In Luxor there are several great temples on the east and west banks. Four of the major mortuary temples visited by early travelers include the Temple of Seti I at Gurnah, the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahri, the Temple of Ramesses II (a.k.a. Ramesseum), and the Temple of Ramesses III at Medinet Habu; the two primary cults temples on the east bank are known as the Karnak and Luxor. Unlike the other temples in Thebes, Luxor temple is not dedicated to a cult god or a deified version of the pharaoh in death. Instead, Luxor temple is dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship; it may have been where many of the pharaohs of Egypt were crowned in reality or conceptually (as in the case of Alexander the Great, who claimed he was crowned at Luxor but may never have traveled south of Memphis, near modern Cairo).

That was nice stay on board - All the crew was great with various bits of 'towel art' appearing daily in our cabin. Even the guy in the shop was super helpful allowing us to take several 'Gabelaya's' to our cabin to try before we purchased. Cruising the Nile itself was a great experience with the crazy traders in boats alongside and dockside, as was the birdlife and watching Egypt unfold before you. The food was delicious and tasty

Sailing in the Nile - A cruise on the Nile, where the movie Death on the Nile was filmed. Ship of Italian design. The cabin is spacious and has a large window. The restaurant serves various meat and vegetable dishes. What distinguishes the restaurant is the chef and staff there.. they are all cheerful and kind. The deck is suitable for sports and walking

ENJOYING by the Nile - Our trip of the Madrid community through Egypt He took us to this motor ship. The attention from all the staff was very good. The boat is showing its age but in general It's pretty good. The room has more than enough dimensions, comfortable beds, bathroom with all the necessary accessories and everything clean. The buffets with varied food and sufficient quantity, drinks at affordable prices. On the upper deck you could enjoy the pool, have a drink at the bar or simply enjoy the landscapes. They treated us to a cocktail and a djellaba party. We have spent some very good days Thanks habibis.

Review of 4 day 3 night Aswan-Luxor - Nice cabins with 2 beds, two chairs, large sliging glass window, footstool and desk. Safe, Kleenex and fridge but no coffee maker. Small flat screen TV which could have travel documentaries on TV because of the sit around time at lock and cruising. BBC and CNN were available while docked at Aswan. Wine only by the bottle only but screw top and they will keep it for you or take it to your cabin. Depending on direction of travel on the Nile select either right or left side for the sun. All meals buffet style. A/C appears to be controllable but our room always stayed at 22 degrees...72 Fahrenheit. Ship wi-fi was untested by me at 170EP per 24 hours. I used my Verizon cellphone (a month of foreign travel for 100USD or 10USD per day) as a wi-fi hotspot for our laptops. Caution try it out at home because you may have to use some added software e.g. pdaNet to make it work. The ships stack up at the docks so don’t expect a Nile/shore view. We did a three day Aswan to Luxor cruise. I’m pretty sure all run similar programs. The biggest problem is that there are so many ships they are stacked at the dock. We were the second of four ships and everyone except the outermost ship was just looking right into another stateroom 10’ away. If your were lucky to be the outermost ship you still would only have a 50% chance of seeing the Nile. Day 1 check-in and look at your neighbor..Day 2 either get up at 4AM to drive 3 ½ hours to Abu Simbel OR get picked up at 6AM to fly to Abu Simble and fly back by 1230PM...once everyone back on the ship it sails, stopping around 5PM to visit to a most interesting Temple Kom Ombo. Back on ship for dinner and continue to dock at Erfu for overnight. The next morning most leave at 6AM for a horse carriage ride to another Temple (we slept in). Day 3 spent cruising the Nile to Luxor (we chose a right side cabin to avoid afternoon sun) the only attraction being a lock. The tour programs indicate that you arrive in Luxor early enough to see all the main attractions on both side of the Nile. We managed Luxor Temple from 6PM until they turned the lights out at 8PM. Day 4 by 8AM you are off the boat. Our tour took us to Karnak Temple and check-in to a hotel. That afternoon we did the West Bank Valley of the Kings etc. Hours of sit-around punctuated by a few early get-ups and frantic touring.

Larger cabins than most boats - Wonderful staff, very attentive and helpful. Cabin could have been a bit cleaner but it was very spacious and had a sofa which I moved so I could sit and look out as we cruised along. Pool deck had only one sunshade and so got very warm when the boat wasn't moving. Pool was adequate and tested regularly to ensure safety but still managed to look a little grubby at times. Food was very good and hygiene of food prep was excellent. I enjoyed my time on this boat and would recommend it.

Ruby II, between fair and bad - We traveled four nights and five days on the Ruby II cruise. I didn't find any previous comments because we were the first group of travelers to take the tour after the ship was remodeled. It is a very simple boat, not luxury, as some agencies offer. We had problems with the shower water running out, or coming out very hot and then very cold. On the last day, the hallway in our cabin flooded. It seems we were the test "pigs". Food, regular, bad breakfast and better lunch and dinner. Very friendly staff, yes. Especially the waiters and waiter captain in the dining room.

Needs updating - We stayed on a 7 night Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan and return. Rooms comfortable but dark decor and need updating. We experienced problems with our fridge and tv which were replaced. Several of the floor boards have gaps and have been nailed. The shower was grubby. Large window opens so you can sit and watch the world go by. Food standard. Don’t eat the salad, or drink local juices. Brush your teeth in bottled water (2 small bottles provided each day). Food was a bit the same chicken, fish, beef in various forms. All food is luke warm. Drinks are paid for at the end of the trip. As I had an upset stomach the chef did prepare me some extra food which was very tasty. All this being said the staff very super and always happy to help. Couple of “special” nights. Security guard at all times. Small splash pool on top deck - towels provided. Shop overall is dark and dated.

Mixed feelings about the M/S Royal Ruby - THE PREMISES: The ship is worn-out and tired, although some efforts of refurbishing has been done. In our room, the french window to the seaside couldn't be locked, which is a security risk. Concordingly, the doors for the wardrobe got stuck and couldn't be closed properly. Only one single socket in the cabin is not enough for charging phones or using other electric advises. The minibar (empty) was rather warm than cold. Metal parts in the bathroom are rusty. Please mind that the vessle has stairs only, no lift. If possible, avoid the rooms next to the staircase/bar area since they can be very noisy at times. STAFF: Quality of staff on board is very uneven. Some staff gossip shamelessly in front of their clients if they assume the clients do not understand their language anyway. This sometimes includes theories about the clients' sexual life, which is far from a professional behaviour. When we needed room service for an emergency, it took three calls and 45 minutes to get someone to show up. Once it finally worked, the service was perfect, though. Other part of staff is on the opposite very attentive and genuinly friendly, in particular the restaurant personnel. Many thanks thanks to them, they make any meal a pleasure! PROGRAMME ON BOARD: The Nubian party is amazing. PRICES: Water is overpriced on board but the rest of the beverages have reasonable prices. FOOD: Most of the food is of excellent quality and prepared with care as well as presented nicely at the buffet. A big plus for making the passengers acquainted with high class Egyptian cuisine! TIPPING: Take information from your Tour Guide in advance to learn how tipping is done on board and in Egypt in general. For unexperienced travellers it can be quite bewildering. You should always have small notes available.

Very bad - At first, the cruise is not clean, the food is not good, and the treatment is not good from the senior receptionist. I do not recommend this cruise to you.
