On the return journey, stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two gigantic sitting statues representing Amenophis III facing the Nile. Then visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Lunch on board. Sail to Esna. Abu Simbel Temple Complex - Visit the Temple of Abu Simbel and return to Aswan. The colossal Temple of Abu Simbel, built by Ramses II (19th Dynasty) and recently saved from the inundation of the Nile waters, is among the glories of ancient Egyptian monuments. The temples were carved out of a sandstone rock cliff, with representations of the deities to which each was dedicated carved on its huge façade. Nearby, also saved, lies the small Temple of the King’s wife Nefertari, dedicated to the goddess Hathor.
