The statues are made from a single block of stone and stand at a height of about 60 feet (18 meters), weighing around 1000 tons each.

The temple complex was once one of the largest and most opulent in ancient Egypt. However, much of it has been destroyed over the centuries, leaving behind only the two colossal statues.
