Day 1: HO CHI MINH - MY THO - BEN TRE - CAN THO (L)
My Tho - Depart from Ho Chi Minh City and enjoy a scenic drive along the National Highway, flanked by lush rice fields. Upon arrival in My Tho, visit the Vinh Trang Pagoda, take a relaxing boat ride along the river, and see stilt houses, fruit plantations, and fishing villages along the riverbank. Continue to Tortoise Islet for lunch in an orchard garden. Then, take a boat ride to An Khanh, a less touristy spot in Ben Tre. Enjoy a hand-rowed sampan cruise under the shade of water coconut trees along natural canals, and savor seasonal fruit and honey tea while listening to “Southern Vietnamese folk music” performed by locals. Visit a family business that epitomizes the idyllic rural lifestyle, taste delicious coconut candy, and observe pastoral life as you wander through fruit plantations and villages. Proceed to Can Tho for an overnight stay at a hotel (a family homestay with dinner can be arranged upon request). Enjoy free time to explore the bustling Can Tho market.
CAN THO - CAI RANG FLOATING MARKET - CHAU DOC - TRA SU SANCTUARY (B, L)
Can Tho - Take a leisurely boat trip to explore the picturesque tributaries of the Lower Mekong River (Bassac River), then head to the Cai Rang floating market (with an optional visit to Phong Dien), the liveliest in the region.
Have you ever tried Vietnamese vermicelli soup? Now, see how it’s made. Wander around the village, meet the friendly locals, and experience crossing a “Monkey bridge” made from a single bamboo stem. Visit the orchard garden and stop for lunch.
Proceed to Chau Doc and visit Tra Su, a wild bird sanctuary. Cruise in small boats to explore the splendid canals deep in the forest, watching storks, cranes, and other tropical birds. On the way back, stop to visit Sam Mountain and the Cave Pagoda (if time permits). Finally, return to town, check into a hotel, and spend the night in Chau Doc.
CHAU DOC - FISHING VILLAGE - HO CHI MINH (B, L)
Chau Doc - After breakfast, take a boat cruise through the floating village to visit a fish farm and see how the Mekong Delta people raise fish in their floating houses. Then, visit the Cham minority’s traditional weaving village and a local Islamic mosque.
Return to Ho Chi Minh City, ending the trip at the office.
